The manufacturing site in Blacksburg is a great place to work. It's great pay for frontline assembly and the leaders are very good about hearing you and making you feel valued. I was a big tank build roughly 4 years ago and absolutely loved my job. I learned a lot and had a few mentors, co workers, and bosses I stay in contact with to this day. They really helped me build a good work ethic and had a very team oriented environment. I would never have the opportunity I have now at my current employer if it wasn’t for spectrum brands! Company has a good ole boy system in place. So if you’re not liked by one…good luck moving up. No supervision really. Managers are in their own world and don’t really care what you do until corporate big wigs come. You can get away with about mostly anything. If you do care you won’t get noticed. There’s a huge disconnect from corporate and lower level employees. If you do work here do what you can and find somewhere else. It’s not meaningful work what I did but my manager didn’t care….so the freedom was nice. No one gets along and the gossip is non stop, including inside management. Initiative is ignored and attempts at proper communication were met with attitude and condescension.
