Management prefers to have to repeat themselves every week about the way things have to be done rather than stepping in with effort and giving time and being open to listen to the workers who are actually trying. The hotel needs new staff as soon as possible before it gets worse.

Audit time can be a little stressful but this job isn't very stressful but busy because of staffing.

Terrible hotel to work for

8 years at this company, turnover rate is high we are constantly having issues at the hotel that directly impact the guest their, but management and above refuses to do anything about and are constantly trying to put blame on workers when in fact how are we suppose to work without any supplies, also we are expected to do each job title even though it is not apart of our job description because we are constantly short staff, they over work all workers, and give us low pay, and most of the time it is almost impossible to contact a manager and they barley show up to work, scheduling is random and late all the time, also minimum wage is low still even though it went up at multiple ESA we still didn’t get our raise. Overall I would never recommend ESA as a first hotel for anybody or to even stay at. The only thing ESA has over a lot of hotels is the fact their rms come with a kitchen in it to cook, but if a lot more hotels like candle wood were to have that feat ESA would never exist and for good reason. Each property I worked at had the same exact problems, and I worked at multiple extendedstays. The higher ups literally try to threaten you in a passive aggressive way because they refuse to fix a issue nor admit fault they rather put blame on the hotel or employees then to take blame for lack of supervision supplies and any guidance for new people.

Laid back for the most part. Some guests were very nice while others were not.

Overworked/underpaid

The job itself is quite easy. However, the company hires less than qualified people for management positions with no previous hospitality experience. It does affect the team when management isn’t trained properly and are left to fend for themselves. There is no retention, people leave within a year due to the fact that we are overworked and stressed out on the weekends. I’ve worked at a couple of different locations and I’ve seen staff do some questionable practices yet they are still there because of favoritism. The few that actually work and care for their job are harassed. We do have to deal with Evictions… some people will threaten you or just blame you for something we have no control of. That all comes back to Management. I can’t blame the GM if their supervisor isn’t supportive. It definitely shows how penny pinching they are when there are no holiday parties or appreciation events.

This was the worst experience. The GM had no experience, had favorites who never had to work nights or weekends. Gossiping was a big problem. Expect one person to run the FD and clean rooms so housekeeping could have weekends off. Would schedule your PTO without your consent and lied to upper management excessively. Upper management would act as if they cared but changed never happened. Guest did not come first so expect complaints and to be yelled at a lot. No proper training and no leadership. If they'd get decent management they could turn this place around but I wouldn't hold my breath for that. Horrible place to work

Cool place to work

It's a cool place to work if you do not mind working the late shifts. Three pm to 11pm. Every weekend. No complaints, not much to it. Training did not take long
