I was a successful at my position driving significant financial growth as the Global Credit Manager. Although, at times, it didn't seem to be enough for management. The leadership occasionally targeted me as a scapegoat for credit decisions they were involved with that didn't pan out. Overall, I enjoyed my job at Timken and made dozens of friends. I can recommend Timken as a solid employer to others seeking challenging opportunities matched with good benefits and compensation. The office I worked in was dominated by clicks which were difficult to maneuver. Terrible dirty you will stink and be exhausted. Ppl are friendly and helpful. Supervisors are good and helpful. Leads suck and are rude when you ask for help even though that's their job. Pay is really only thing going for this job and I'm not sure it's worth it!!! Not a ton of overtime and a good work/life balance but in the past year things have gone downhill. Tons of overtime and you feel more like a number than a person. It feels like management is out to get everyone, even the workers who put out the best numbers are treated like garbage. The money is good but that's about it. You would think that the insurance would be good since it is union but you will pay double here than you would at most other places. It was a better place when it was locally owned. Punctuality is a MUST being late is frowned upon. Management is ok. I worked 15 years no absences got some compensation for perfect attendance. Over all best place I ever worked. Retired in 2015 the company match on 401 was great. Stock options are a plus. If you don’t have small children great place to work. Other wise stay away. Not much time for family. Work and sleep. 401 k match free zoo passes. Work shirts and shoes supplied Schedule. A pain to use the vacation you get. However, management and poor team leaders is what ruined the job and made it extremely stressful. You shouldn't have to come in everyday thinking "I wonder what kind of drama I'll have to go through today". They had people fresh out of college in "management" and they had No idea what we did, how the product was ran/made, and would blame the people working if something went wrong. No room to advance, if a job came open they already picked someone so no interviews for that job. Supervisors would hound you for doing your job properly while others would be standing around talking. Team leaders need to be replaced. They never helped, never relieved you while on break, and when coming off from break they wouldn't be anywhere to be found. People would take several breaks and take 1hr breaks when you're only suppose to have 20mins. I always took pride in my work especially knowing the bearings I made would end up in vehicles. Learned if you know more people you will go somewhere not by the quality of your work. Most enjoyable is the mindless assembling of bearings. Hardest part was having to deal with all the drama. They pay well, loved my job just not the people. Although only there for a few weeks as a temp till the end of the contract, I, and another coworker were constantly talked to by Line Lead like we were an animal. Despite being there on time every day and doing what I was told, Package Bearing Line Lead was telling us, "thats ok, both of you are gone soon anyway". So we never really had a chance at being hired. If your being trained by days for 2nd shift forget it you can do know right. Not once was I told in 6 and a half days your getting it your doing good nothing just you dont listen and your doing it wrong constantly even on a order that your trainer got the wrong boxes you dont listen and you messed up not them. Wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy and have successfully worked over 25 yrs in 2 other factorys without having this issue.
