Working at Twilio was one company where I did not like most of the people I worked with/for, and mandatory political beliefs ruled.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part was having a job when Covid hit and the economy ground to a halt.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Everything "woke", as it was forced down your throat by the new DEI people that made you feel well, not included. Wild huh? It was relentless if you were of a certain ethnicity and let's say, the most normal orientation if you know what is meant.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Woke, all day long, 24x7, and if you aren't enthused, you will be let go at will. Also, the CFO at the time should be investigated by the SEC. The way they made you wait in a blackout period when the stock was at its highest, while they cashed theirs in was criminal.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Eating a lot of woke bee esss. Attending corporate quarterly meetings on business, metrics, stock, etc. yet having to listen to a very small minority complain about not enough being done for them. Things in a normal corporate environment you'd be told NOT to do when in executive presence were done in a demanding fashion.

Working at Twilio exposed me to cutting-edge cloud communication solutions. I learned about APIs, programmable messaging, voice, and video services. Understanding how these technologies empower businesses was enlightening.
My role involved reaching out to potential clients proactively. I honed my cold-calling techniques, email outreach, and social media prospecting. Crafting compelling messages and tailoring them to specific audiences became second nature.
Twilio equipped me with an arsenal of prospecting tools. From CRM systems to lead databases, I became proficient in leveraging technology to identify and engage with potential customers. While my managers were supportive, their knowledge about the intricacies of our products and services was limited. However, their encouragement and guidance were invaluable.
Twilio fostered a vibrant workplace culture. Collaborative teams, team-building activities, and a focus on employee well-being made it an enjoyable place to work.

Life as a Twilion is not bad. It was easy to navigate and the option to earn your red track jacket was a great cultural norm that I gladly partake in. I loved this because my role was not technical, but I was still able to showcase my ability in a Software org. The culture was very laid back and relax, with an open communication policy. It opened my eyes to how exciting the Software Industry is and I would def recommend for others. When I initially started there were lots of monthly perks and incentives to get together with fellow Twilions. These last 12 months have been so brutal. Hard to tell what the future will bring.

Executive leadership is lacking
|
The executive team is in flux. The CEO has just been replaced, but it may be a little too late for Twilio. Mismanagement has not allowed the sales organization to be properly staffed and supported. The customer success, sales, and other teams have been dismantled through a series of three different layoffs. It feels like the company is being prepared for a sale as a whole or broken off into pieces.
I would warn anyone looking to work at Twilio to ask serious and hard questions to the interviewer(s).

Twilio do well by their employees and take good care of them, offering flexibility and many benefits. The people are great and it's a good work environment. However the company direction wasn't always clear and could change suddenly.

Great people, challenging time for the company

Generally people are talented and great to work with. Twilio was a great company to work for 2 years ago. Management execution and macro head winds have taken a toll on the company and its culture. The company is good at its core business but consistent growth beyond its core has been unsteady.
