My former boss forwarded the voicemail to my former project manager, who forwarded the voicemail to my personal email. When I completed a certification during my tenure, my former boss refused to sign my experience forms. Working at Contran as a minority (e.g. young age, person of color, woman or disabled) is like working in the US South during 1960’s segregation. Contran’s idea of a diversity program is to interview several candidates of a certain background and select the one who is grossly overqualified. This makes complete sense when the management team doesn’t feel like any person of color deserves to work in the conservative office at all. There’s a European Project Manager that would constantly walk into my office and yell at the top of his lungs for perceived slights. In addition to my job duties, I was tasked with caring for a disabled person on my team, because old-school management refused to allow the person to work from home. This coupled with the entire team hating each other and constantly whining was a huge workplace distraction. We had new management and they made major changes within the company which included people getting terminated/laid off. Free drinks and sport activities tickets. Then I would check my emails in Outlook and reply to my team members or/and IT Director and/or Business people if needed. At Contran my I was hired as a QA Analyst Lead/BA so everyday I had to gather requirements from the Business people and from the stakeholders and creating Business Requirement Documentation, Flow charts, Mockups and at the same time leading and mentoring QA team, make sure they understand the Requirements, Review their Test Cases, creating weekly report for the IT Director. What I learned: I have learned to be a team player and working on multiple projects at a time so I have learned how to be multi tasking, I enjoy what I do. Management: I have always gotten great managers. If I was on PTO but I checked my emails and replied for something to my Manager who was IT Director and then he would say you are on PTO don't work. Workplace Culture: Everyone in our organization was just great I ate lunch with a big group of people from Business and had fun in between work. The hardest part of the job: We had one release to Pre-Prod environment on every Wednesday at 2:00PM and release to Production on every Tuesday at 4:00PM so sometimes we were on the call until late in the evening and would get home very late. The most enjoyable part of the job: I love my job and love people in the team, I am a people person so always get along with everyone. Contran doesn't put much emphasis on advancement or employees learning different departments. So it all depends on what manager you are hired under. Pay is great and benefits are average could be better base on the profitability of Contran.
