Jede wichtige Entscheidung zu Game Design, Entwicklung oder Art Direction wird dem jeweiligen Team überlassen. Ich genieße jeden Tag viele Gelegenheiten, diese Freiheit an die anderen Mitarbeiter*innen weiter zu geben. Wir arbeiten mit interessanten Marken und IPs, und bringen unsere eigenen Werte und Spezialitäten ein. Die Studiokultur ist sehr gut, vom allgemeinen Umgang miteinander, bis hin zu den Werten und Zielen, die die Teams und Individuen für sich selbst definieren. Das Team ist international und kulturell ziemlich divers, mit einer für die Spielebranche sehr niedrigen Männerquote von derzeit nur 50%. Schönes Office in Friedrichshain, mit Küche und großem Gemeinschaftbereich, gute Lage sehr nahe dem Ostkreuz. Es gibt Stehtische für alle Büroarbeitsplätze, generell eine sehr gute Work/Life Balance. Homeoffice wird auch künftig immer in einem signifikanten Umfang möglich sein; d.h. nach der Pandemie. Momentan sind für alle 100% Homeoffice möglich, wenn sie es wünschen - die meisten Kolleg*innen nehmen diese Möglichkeit auch wahr. Team-Events sind immer etwas besonderes, man redet und feiert gern miteinander. Spielerunden, ob Online oder im Gemeinschaftsbereich, kommen immer wieder mal zusammen und sind immer große Klasse. Die Vergütung, Incentives, sowie den Urlaubsanspruch würde ich nach 18 Jahren Beruf in der Spielebranche in diversen Firmen als "gut" bezeichnen, in vielen Belangen sogar "sehr gut". Es wird versucht, Kursangebote, Fortbildungen und Konferenzbesuche für alle Interessierten in ausreichender Menge jedes Jahr erneut zu ermöglichen. Kleines Studio, und daher gibt es wenige Parties, und ehrlich gesagt auch wenig Benefits wie Essensgutscheine oder Snack-Station. Manchmal muss man viele Hüte tragen, nicht für alles gibt es den oder die Richtigen, aber gut genug ist manchmal auch gut genug. Vor COVID-19 war es leider geselliger - die meisten arbeiten (zu recht) die überwiegende Zeit im Home Office, und Kurse, Besprechungen, Spieleabende und Konferenzen sind nun alle immer online. Small glimmer of having the agency to put out something good. Upper management aren't interested in games. They don't understand games. They don't even play the games. They are businessmen who never tire of believing they will hit it big one day by trying to force games to exist that will never be popular. This shows the most in their core 'business strategy': They don't market their games, then they blame the studio and close them prematurely. Then they take out another convertible loan and pass the half-finished game to a team of so-called 'super developers' who they will then prematurely end their relationship with, completing the cycle. They have the business acumen to seal actually good deals with incredible prospects, then they flub it because they want to see money from day 1 without even realizing the revenue structure for a project that takes two-plus years to come to market. Some games were made and released under such pressure that no player even wanted to touch them as they were so rushed and unfinished. Don't trust them, don't work for them, don't engage with them. You are removing people from your company who are both incredibly talented and passionate about making games, worse yet you don't even realize it.
