Great Products but Difficult Startup
|
Great Basin had great products but had a difficult time with finances. It never had enough cash to do what needed to be done. It was difficult to repair critical equipment and to bring in needed parts for the lack of funding.

This place was awful. The management was awful. I am pretty sure the Ceo was embezzling money. The people acted like it was high school, and loved to gossip and talk behind peoples back.

The CEO spent money like he had it. starting in march he missed payroll... they never caught up and in August they laid us all off. The company owes over 63 employees over 2 million in back pay!

I loved the teams that I worked with however, The CEO and CFO managed the company poorly with respect to finances. Almost all employees were laid off at the end of August 2017.

money trouble since I hired on there. complete with reverse stock splits. CEO does questionable deals to keep us afloat. everyone is stressed out all the time. we're about to go under. sad, great people.
teamwork is the most enjoyable. the hardest part is the daily stress of not knowing if I will have a job next week.

Great people TERRIBLE upper management
|
Upper management apparently has no idea how to run a business let alone be a medical device manufacturer. Poor money management trickle down from upper management, if you strongly disagree with upper management you better believe your job is on the chopping block, poor utilization of employees and resources, poor workflow and misleading about future revenue sources. Instead of investing money in the company management apparently decided to throw money into fancy corporate offices. Upper management misled employees about the future of the company then blindsided them with massive layoffs. If he had been forthcoming I'm sure many people would have started to look for new jobs. Upper management and investors manipulated stocks then offered employees the opportunity to buy stock, after the open period to buy was over the shareholders decided to reverse split the stocks twice so far in three months.

Awful Management

Working here was quite miserable. The people were great and the work was interesting but the management ruined the whole experience. Managers had no experience managing work, they were essentially only PHD's hired to over see work. They had no sense of how to manage projects or get the best work out of employee's. Upper management is even worst. They filled the heads of workers with lies, telling everyone funding is fine. Only to lay half of the company off a few months later. If you are looking for a stable job this is not the place to search. STAY CLEAR.

Great Environment. Risky Start Up Company.

Great Basin Scientific has a fun and productive atmosphere. The employees are easygoing yet know how to get things done in an efficient manner. The company offers great pay and benefits. There is also large amounts of experience and knowledge to gain.The only downside with this company is it is extremely bad with finances. The upper management is extremely disorganized and over optimistic. We deliver great products with high quality. However as I am typing this out I am on my 5th week of not being paid. Please be wary of this and understand that job security depends solely on the management and not your work ethic.
