Worst Place I've Worked

The management and employees gossip about customers and co-workers while at work and right behind them. Some employees are allowed to be late every day, take sick days/weeks without reprimand, wear clothes that are against dress code (bc they're friends with their manager), while others are written up for things beyond their control.
Initially, I was hired to float between branches, then that changed to just 1 branch, and by the time I started I was working at yet another branch with COMPLETELY different hours than I had agreed to when I was hired. I let this slide bc I was being understanding but didn't receive the same understanding in return when I needed it most.
After being a stay at home mom for over 2 years they gave me 1 week to find childcare. I was unable to find a spot in daycare due to covid-19 and the 1st 2 sitters I found backed out on me right before they were supposed to start. I got her in a daycare within a week of this. I was early every day, took notes n was on my own drawer in 2 weeks with no mistakes/shortages/overages, the manager kept telling me how awesome I was doing, that I was a "rockstar". My baby had a fever from the flu a few days later and daycare wouldn't take her. Bc it was a fever, management told me I couldn't come back until we had a negative covid test result so I had to take a week off to get the test and results. Once I had the negative result I asked if I was ok to come back to work n I was told yes. Only so she could fire me IN FRONT OF the other employees (which included my replacement that was there ON THE DAY I WAS FIRED) even though there was nothing to sign and no reason to make me go in there except to see me cry. I have NEVER met more unprofessional management in my 20 years of working. They fired me a day before my 1 month anniversary, they didn even give me a full month to prove I could be reliable, which I would say is normal, except for covid has made everything harder for everyone (which it seemed they took into consideration while dealing with other employees but not me). I would think if I really was a "rockstar" then I deserved a little more patience.
If you don't have children, any health concerns, the ability to catch covid, or hard feelings about co-workers and bosses gossiping about you and your customers, then this is the perfect job for you!
Best of luck to the owner and anyone who works here. Until there is a change in upper management there will continue to be a high turn around rate.

Unprofessional management and atmosphere allowing gossip about customers, No understanding of normal life problems that can arise, no one is ever on the same page when it comes to just about anything.

It truly was a blessing, I had no banking experience and they took me on, and they were a true family, you always have that one or more person who’s a stick in the mud but it truly was a great place to work. Manager(s) were amazing in keeping up with you and making sure you reached your goals

Good People/Old School ways
|
They are definitely set in their old school ways here.
A lot of managers are really great and very easy to work with. But upper management can be difficult to deal with. They have all been here for many years and are stubborn to change. The bank likes to stick to what it knows instead of trying to keep up with the times.

At first, a fun & productive place to work

Working at American Bank used to be a good place to work. I enjoyed doing my job well and getting to know the customers. But now, with new management and a completely new set of guidelines, it is more like a nightmare job. New employees are hired constantly but do not stay long.

A typical day at work might enclude working the drive up and lobby or going out and refilling and servicing all our ATM's.
The work place was easy going and everyone got along well.
There was nothing dificult about the job.
The most enjoyable part of the job was dealing with the customers.

Small community bank, therefore a good place to start. Bilingual speakers are highly preferred since most of their clients are Spanish speakers. Not much room for advancement.

Everyone is super nice and great conversations. Meeting people everyday and chatting with regular customers. Always a fun atmosphere. Work days were sometimes slow and sometimes super busy.
