Bad a bad experience

Training is great in the beginning and you learn everything without the pressure of being in the branches. Most of the co-workers I had were great. It was nice to have a local bank.
|
It’s very hard to do well because there are a lot of unwritten rules with certain customers, so I got yelled at multiple times for things I didn’t know. You have to get a certain amount of referrals per month, which is crazy for a job that pays just above minimum wage. Management will throw you under the bus if a customer complains. One of the branches got robbed twice in one day because they chose to keep it open after the first robbery.

Put yourself in the shoes of the tellers. Are you providing them with what they need to do what you are asking? Remember how little they are getting paid and how much abuse they get from customers. Also, know these tellers are risking their safety to work there.

Most people are nice and friendly; strong focus on customer service; keeps business local and supportive of community

Pay: far below market, except of course for senior management - the gap between sr management salary and regular staff salaries is astronomical and is bad for morale. Some managers are reluctant to take disciplinary action against extreme poor performers and it’s unfair. Poor/inappropriate behavior is tolerated for some long-time employees but others are fired instantly for the same behavior. Onboarding sucks and is basically nonexistent. IT is understaffed and software applications are always whatever is cheapest even if it malfunctions 50+% of the time.
