My peers were the best and only part of this job that got me through working for this company.

Hills Bank does not care about the happiness and well being of employees who are not in the top 10% of earners (President, Vice President, CEO, Chair members, etc.). This company operates in a disorganized, unjust, and backwards fashion. Upper management acts inappropriately, both directly and indirectly with subordinates (e.g., acting like your friend, favoring certain employees over others, gossiping about employees with other employees of the same rank, emotionally charged meetings, etc.). You’ll be hired for a position in which you are expected to go above and beyond for pay that doesn’t even begin to cover the cost of living, PTO that will barely get you by (unless you’re willing to be miserable for 8 years to move up the ladder of accrual rates), and struggle to survive a hostile, catty, and unfair work environment. There’s also the added bonus of non-existent opportunities for career progression. There are bi-weekly department meetings held with leadership members in which grievances made by employees are discussed but nothing ever changes, so it’s a complete waste of time and effort voicing concerns you might have. The rules are never truly clear and can change at the drop of a hat - forget about the hope of working from home because that probably won’t exist after too long as they’ve consistently reduced the days you’re allowed to work remotely to promote “collaboration”. My advice is do not work for Hills Bank. When a member of upper management advises employees to “find another job”, you know it’s getting bad. Just because a company is local doesn’t mean they won’t conduct the selfish practices you assume only large corporations do.
