Everyone is extremely willing to help and taught me everything they wanted me to learn over the course of my internship. The office space is open, which is welcoming, with plenty of space for each employee. The office space provides opportunities for everyone to thrive and grow in their own way. I was only with 7 Mile Advisors for a summer, so I did not get the full experience. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 384187 Open 0.0 [] INTERN No No 1.0 Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM 7 Mile Advisors

private:7mileadvisors https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=384187 Mar 10th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open 7 Mile Advisors Associate Charlotte, NC Unique Investment Banking Culture 7MA has a culture unlike any of its peers in the IB industry with a modern office space, healthy lunches, and senior bankers willing to teach you a deal process from start to finish. As an associate you get to take a shot at business development, which is also another aspect about the firm that I personally enjoy. Deal flow also seems to be constantly increasing - a good sign of upward mobility and overall firm growth. The associate role is relatively new, so things are still somewhat of a work in process at times and you are expected to support deals, conduct research and promote 7MA which can be a lot. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 3.0 4.0 384187 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 1.0 Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM 7 Mile Advisors

private:7mileadvisors https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=384187 Dec 17th, 2015 12:00AM Open Open 7 Mile Advisors United States USA Great Experience The friendly atmosphere and open door policy of the senior team made this a great experience. I was able to get some direct client exposure and gain valuable, in-depth knowledge on the business services and tech space. The partners (and the one associate at the time) were always available to answer questions and made us feel involved wherever possible. As an intern, a main responsibility was business development (reaching out to potential clients), which has been a useful skill since my time at 7MA. Additionally, the free lunches and gym membership (cross-fit type of gym) were a nice benefit. For an banking internship, my work/life balance was pretty good. Although I wasn't offered a full-time position after my internship, I've stayed in touch with the 7 Mile team and they've been incredibly helpful in my career development, including making introductions to senior bankers at other firms. There could have been more structure to the internship program while I was there, although I understand it has been greatly improved since my time with the firm. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 384187 Open Continue to make the internship program more structured. Use the interns to their full potential and give them meaningful work whenever possible. This will help improve their experience and make 7MA a more desired place for future candidates. 0.0 [] No No 0.0 Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM 7 Mile Advisors
private:7mileadvisors https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=384187 Oct 8th, 2015 12:00AM Open Open 7 Mile Advisors Associate Charlotte, NC Associate Intern - Collegial, low-key atmosphere and office environment with direct access to Directors and Partners/Senior Management - Free lunches and healthy office snacks on most days - 7MA looks for socially adept former athletes with academic accomplishments, so if you are of this ilk and work well with others that are, you will most likely enjoy your time here with the FT employees and other interns in your class of 4-5 people - Direct access to potential clients via outreach lists, some of which are better than others - Opportunities to earn $100 bonus gift cards for most appointments made on a weekly basis in addition to monthly stipend - Free/compensated parking in building garage or nearby in Uptown lot - Opportunity to learn from 7MA associates/directors/partners if you set up appointments with potential clients and sit in on the calls - Happy Hour Fridays where interns are given company card to go out and purchase various craft beers and snacks for the office - Mostly 9-5pm schedule for interns, sometimes 7-7pm at worst - Opportunity to attend some firm functions like in-town conferences, though don't expect to be invited to any of the high-end cocktail parties/happy hours associated with these events. We were told we would be able to attend a conference social at the top of one of Charlotte's biggest skyscrapers only to be told at the last minute after all of our hard work assisting with the conference that we were no longer invited - One intern class was offered the opportunity to attend the 7MA Christmas Party at a nice steakhouse in South Park...everything was paid for by the partners and personal Christmas cards with bonus money were also distributed. This was classy and a very nice evening. - Very little exposure to DCF, LBO or other M&A models or pitchbooks; 75% of your duties will be making cold calls to prospective clients in the lower middle-market tech sector - Not much in the way of networking via the firm unless you work your own connections via LinkedIn and recruiters, etc. - Compensation is only $1,000/month and payment at end of the month is late half of the time, so be prepared to stay on top of this. If you're making your interns live on $1,000/month and it's difficult for them to have other outside employment, this should NEVER happen. But it does. - $100 bonus gift cards are earned/won on a weekly basis, but they are rarely given out on time, if at all; one intern had to wait six months (6!) after leaving his internship to get his gift card payout; this also should not happen. It devalues the work that interns do on a daily basis and gives them less incentive to work hard if it takes weeks (or months) to receive these small bonuses. - The free gym membership is not a traditional gym membership, but rather the opportunity to attend a cross-fit/kettlebell gym with the FT Partners/Associates if they go during lunchtime during the week. You will never have to pay to go, but you usually will have to choose between a free meal or a workout, and the gym is not regularly accessible at other times (weekends) as it is a good 10-15 minute drive from the office. - This is not a 3-month internship that is an immediate springboard into the investment banking/M&A industry. If you work really hard and set a lot of appointments and the partners all like you, you may be asked to stay on...to make more calls and supervise the next set of interns. You will most likely not be paid like an Associate and will not have the opportunity to sit for the Series 63 or 79 exams as they will not sponsor you. Your tasks on a daily basis will consist mostly of business development and occasional errand-running as well as a few opportunities to create deal teaser sheets or do some research via Capital IQ. - No matter how many calls you make in a day or how many appointments you set up, the partners will most likely never be satisfied and will criticize you for not making enough calls. Be prepared to ignore this and just do your best. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 1.0 3.0 4.0 4.0 2.0 1.0 3.0 384187 Open - Create a full-time position in Business Development, staff it and pay the person well to supervise each class of interns, lead business development/outreach efforts and mentor the interns along on the job and with their forthcoming job search. - ALWAYS pay your interns on time and exactly what they were promised. This will create better morale among the interns and foster a more organized chain of command as well as create more efficiency in outreach efforts. A happy, valued intern is a productive intern. - Create more of a 50/50 balance between deal work and business development. Nobody wants to make 100 phone calls per day, every day. Even the people who are the best at it. Create opportunities for your interns to do meaningful modeling/pitchbook/deal work as this will prepare them for future opportunities and break up the monotony of spending the entire day on the phone calling people they don't know. - Refine the outreach/calling lists to include more solid leads. Many of the lists contained companies that no longer existed or wrong numbers for executives who had left long ago. - Promote more quickly from within. If an intern is working hard and doing a great job on a consistent basis, odds are that person has the ability to source clients which could possibly lead to deal work. Make sure and give those interns an incentive to perform, as opposed to low-balling them with a monthly stipend to stay on after their internship is over as a contract employee with no taxes taken out, no medical/dental benefits, and no opportunity to source their own deals, and seemingly no opportunity for advancement within 7MA. - Continue with complimentary lunches and happy hours, as they build team morale with/among the interns and full-time staff - Always pay your interns on time. Did I mention that already??? Right. 0.0 [] INTERN No No 1.0 Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM Jan 4th, 2021 05:12PM 7 Mile Advisors
