Stay Away if You Want to Make a Career

A select handful of people are very caring, respectful, encouraging co-workers.
|
Everyone keeps to his or her own silos. Despite broadcasting a bright and cohesive culture, the only culture here is free food and co-workers banding together to talk about how the company mismanages its employees.
If you want to advance in your career or learn new skills, stay away from here. Management will have you marching to their ideals only and forget about enriching your career and experience. I cannot say strongly enough, stay away. I was full of optimism at first, which was quickly quashed by a manager that repeatedly berated her department in front of each other and would throw the department under the bus when following her ill direction. There is no support for you.
A select few individuals are the ones who hold the say in what things happen here. There's actually not an open door policy here. If you ask for something you say you deserve, and you come prepared to prove that you can help the company, they will berate you and make you feel guilty for having the meeting.

Remove the family members from the top, especially ones with no actual experience in the department they are running. Instead of playing politics and favorites, let actions and work performance speak for itself instead of playing politics.
Please, please, please, take off the blindfolds and actually see the value that some of your employees bring to the table. There are some who are working until 10pm every night and are working magic, and yet are repeatedly ignored.
If you want to succeed, stop ignoring and start listening. Otherwise, turnover will continue to rise.

An alright place to work

a2z is very organized. Weekly meetings are held both company wide and within departments so it's very easy to get an idea of what's going on. Everyone was friendly and a2z invested in its employees through trainings and educational programs.
|
For my role there was very little opportunity for growth and the head of my department tended to micromanage. Also when I submitted my letter of resignation I was asked to leave a week earlier than I requested with no real explanation or expression of appreciation though I had been working there and doing a good job for over a year.

The culture is relaxed, but everyone works hard. I think everyone buys into the goals of the company and overall direction. There is (some) flexibility in hours and ability to work remote from time to time. Good benefits. Professional development opportunities are abundant.

Some feel that there are too many meetings but I feel the meetings are productive, but maybe they don't need to be held as often.

Poor Upper Management Communication

Fabulous teamwork amongst the worker drones. The programmers who drive the development of the various systems are first-rate and a great team to be on.

Upper management, especially at the top, has a difficult time listening to alternate ideas and suggestions. And when things go wrong, there is a slow trickle-down effect in getting that news to the rest of us.
