private:academicapproach https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=773435 Aug 31st, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Academic Approach Director Chicago, IL Wonderful Place to Work - The people: Approach attracts really wonderful people who are intelligent, passionate, and "nerdy" in the best of ways. Everyone is genuinely committed to the mission statement and willing to go the extra mile to achieve our goals. People are kind and welcoming and many deep friendships are made. There are many former employees that still keep in touch, or even attend Approach events. "Once an Approacher, always an Approacher!" -Employees are more than Employees: This is partially due to the wonderful people who work at Approach, but it also has to do with the structure of the company and its values. In addition to excellent benefits (insurance, PTO, half days, working from home options (even pre-COVID), transit benefits, etc.), the company goes out of its way to support its employees. For example, my stepfather battled cancer for six months before passing away, and during that time I was able to work from the hospital & adjust my schedule to accommodate my overnight hospital shifts. That flexibility and support enabled me to meet my deadlines but more importantly was instrumental in making a terrible time a bit easier for me and my family. In my opinion, these are the things that matter most in a job. Every job has cons. But when you’re put in a situation like that you realize what matters most: working for a company that not only values your work, but values you as an individual. And in that regard, Approach gets the highest marks. - The work: Unlike big companies where so many of the job particulars are micromanaged, I appreciate that Approach trusts us to get our work done. There is room to be creative, innovate, & collaborate. And through it all there is always direction and support. Occasionally the workload is demanding, but it’s work that matters. - Smaller company = some disorganization. This is simply inevitable with any smaller company and there are some personalities that may struggle with this more than others. However, there is a real openness to new ideas and anyone who is solutions-oriented will do very well. Sometimes you simply have to speak up. Be a problem-solver, not a problem-identifier and you'll go far. - Workload: Yes, there are times that are incredibly busy where systems failed or could have been put in place. However, Approach has a real team mentality. Have I occasionally worked late to help out another department with something? Yes. However, have I had people from other departments go the extra mile to help me out when I'm facing a deadline? Also yes. If you're the kind of person who keeps score or only believes in doing work that is explicitly spelled out in your offer letter, you won’t fit in. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 773435 Open -More proactive communication is always appreciated, especially for more shy employees that struggle with speaking up. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 6.0 Jan 4th, 2021 08:10PM Jan 4th, 2021 08:10PM Academic Approach

private:academicapproach https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=773435 Aug 18th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Academic Approach Tutor Chicago, IL heading in wrong direction used to be worth it now ... not so much. I'd try elsewhere. they don't give a set number of students, hours, or pay, are never able to give you even an estimate (if they do it's usually dishonestly positive) and ask you to do an unending amount of work outside of session that you don't get paid for. not a grown up company. and they keep 80% of the insane hourly rate they charge the client. not worth the non compete. your initial rate might sounds good, but factor in the work you do outside of sessions and you make more at Princeton review or kaplan, especially if they can give you more hours. or literally any other competitor... -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 773435 Open they're not worth my two cents 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 4.0 Jan 4th, 2021 08:10PM Jan 4th, 2021 08:10PM Academic Approach
