Whether or not you are applying, or a new employee. E.g.: recruiters keep vacancies online, whether there is a position to be filled, or not. They reel in applications but you they have set an automatic reply which states the position is already filled. The recruitment and HR department do not care that applicants take their time to write a letter. It is purely for their analysis purposes. The company culture is OK, but below average. You are just a number, so very impersonal. I would have definitely taken a different step, knowing this. There are many more better alternatives out there. Even other terrible decisions will surely be better than Accruent. I was given the opportunity to move from the technology org to the people side of things with no formal experience because Accruent believed in me. I definitely took advantage of that and various other opportunities over the years, but I was just tired of the "Accruent grind" (doing more with less.) The culture is still good, but currently going through some growing pains - Accruent isn't the same 100ish person company I joined (and that is OK), I think with the new leadership team and Fortive's help Accruent can figure out what their new culture is as they grow into a larger company over the next few years. I really feel like new leaders on the c-team and Fortive’s guidance can help to take the Accruent to the next level, I just happened to have a great opportunity come up that I wanted to pursue and decided to move to a new company. My reasons for leaving can be broken into three areas: PAY - It is no secret that Accruent pays below market value and sometimes previous members of the leadership team seemed to wear this like a badge of honor. They preach things like opportunity and responsibility to hold people over/dangle the carrot. I was tired of fighting for every raise/promotion and wanted to go somewhere who would reward me for the value I brought to the company. MANAGEMENT - I had seven managers in the last 3 years of my stint at Accruent. A majority of them had little to no experience in L&D and I was left figuring things out on my own. I really wanted a mentor in the L&D space that I could learn from. I feel like the new leadership would have eventually helped there, but realistically I knew that wasn't going to happen any time soon, mainly due to the projects the team has to work on over the next 1-2 years (New tools, Performance management processes, etc.) WORK/LIFE BALANCE - I was penalized during multiple review cycles because I needed to "be more strategic", yet I had two team members shift to other teams during my time as a manager, and was not granted a back fill on my team for either position. We were leading the L&D function with a team of three focused on programs for the entire company of 1,200+ people. We were always asked to do more with less, while continuing to deliver huge programs like New Hire Orientation and our Manager Training Program. I willingly cut/reduced programs every year with promise of an eventual role on my team, but that never happened.
