Good work life balance. Female employees tend to get married and have kids during their stint here. Bosses don't bug you on the weekends and lights in the office are mostly out by 7pm
|
high work load depending on your position/department. Slow growth unless you know people and your bosses like you, ACRA likes to parachute people in.

Welfare events and benefits that promotes work life balance and interaction. Most employees can be friendly and helpful

Promotes a boot-licking culture. You do not have to be the best or most hardworking worker, as long as you play the political game right. No secrets in this company. gossips spread like wild fire to the point of it being malicious.HR department seems to be supported by only 1 or 2 people. Not sure what the rest are doing. Uneven distribution of people. headcount cut which cause some employees to overwork but some dept still have people 'shaking leg'.

Political environment. Strives to ensure it has good track records, flexible work hours and good employee welfare.

Encourages working from home, flexible working hours and has many ground level activities e.g. eating well, exercising well and staff suggestion, meet the ceo sessions as well.
|
Due to the freeze in headcount, many departments are understaffed. Flexible work arrangements will not really help because you are expected to bring your work home to work, sometimes until the wee hours of the morning.
Expect to take on more work functions other than your work functions e.g. reports, software testing (heavy) and other ccas.
If you appear unwilling to take on these tasks, expect yourself to be ranked lowly amongst others.

Conservative organisation, weak HR

Dynamics vary across departments. But generally a place that suits conservative employees seeking a stable career.
|
HR team is under poor and weak leadership. Despite being a government agency, it has taken the prerogative as a statutory board to chart it's own policies which are unfortunately below average and not competitive.
There is a significant number of employees who have been with the organisation for a long time (>10 years) which naturally leads to groupings / cliques of old blood with similar mindsets and traits. The danger to having such prominent cliques is that ACRA lack diversity in its middle to senior management teams. New employees will find it hard to redefine /invent new cultures and often have to subordinate themselves to the older and conservative culture.

Friendly staff and warm culture. Good work-life balance. Supervisor was extremely friendly and helpful.

Most people who work at ACRA have already formed a family and thus they spend more time with their family after work and spend less time bonding with colleagues.
