The use of overseas contractor work makes work difficult, especially with the language barrier. It makes learning the application very difficult, especially when contractors fail to communicate what they're doing
For whatever reason, you report to management that's two or more tiers above you at a weekly basis. Their feedback is often misguided and very non-technical. As long as you give positive, non-technical, surface level feedback of how things are going, and look good on their management and scrum dashboards, you'll be fine. You also have to do the performance reviews for management. Throughout the year, you're expected to log your accomplishments and how far you are to reaching your performance goals. It just comes off as lazy and just shows how far removed management is from the day to day.
