If you have a good manager who is willing to listen to options and truly evaluate suggestions, then you can operate entrepreneurially. To get to this state for all employees, you must personal believe in this and take the time to speak to customers, collect feedback, and look or ask for data to support your initiatives. I am empowered to obtain data when it doesn’t exist to prioritize initiatives that wasn’t considered or lower on the totum pole.
Culturally, if this is how you approach your work and career, you will thrive.

When managers don’t roll there sleeves and get their own hand dirty in doing some IC work, then there is some misalignment on expectations and deliverables. Analogy: If you ever worked as a waiter or waitress, you understand why it’s important to tip, even a bad server. You’ve done the hard work before and have empathy.
Not everyone who is on non-customer-facing roles are thinking or understands how important it is to talk to customers in order to make their jobs easier and data-driven. This should be a habit of all new employees coming onboard.

It would be a great way to collect relevant “here’s what’s happening today” feedback, allowing us to truly respond quickly via the product roadmap and to ensure AC’s competitive edge.
Encourage entrepreneurial mindset from ICs without a fear of failure by creating a framework for people-managers to execute that allows for true testing with ideas (win or fail)

Much of leadership overly focused on politicking and self-advancement, rather than ensuring their direct reports and teams have the tools necessary for success.
It's also way too easy for employees to be railroaded into a poorly reasoned PIP process when a Director+ wants to divert blame for failure to effectively lead and produce results.
