Interesting projects, Meaningful work

Adjaye always had the most interesting projects that weren't just about constructing buildings but creating environments that actually made a difference in the world in service of the people who actually live in those spaces. Projects were always informed by the research team who investigated context, culture, and history before architects would go into these spaces.

Fast-paced environment which can also be a pro but because there is meaningful work being done this takes up a lot of time.

Prestige clients, working with talented (though obsequious and enabling) people.
|
Mean spirited and bullying management, who are also young, inexperienced, disorganised and not independent thinkers. Zero discourse or real engagement with theory or purported social values. An extremely cynical enterprise that has no interest in human development, merely in pretty pictures and ego fanning. Absurdly low pay and absurdly long and unproductive hours.

There aren’t many pros to list but:
-Projects
-Diverse workplace compared to other studios and the industry
|
-Everything else
-Disorganized to the extreme
-No one knows what they’re doing
-Late late late working hours including weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
-Senior leadership is a mess

Overtime and fear is so engrained in the company's business model that not much can be done, unless someone will have an epiphany. It is taught from higher up and overtime is constantly reinforced through peer pressure, different intimidation methods and a 'thoughtful' selection of deadline days so work never ends.
There is little to no respect towards one's needs or professional development. Also, for an office that publicly promotes positive social change through their architecture the social reality within the office is exactly the opposite.
The hypocrisy is reflected through their high turnover rate.

No work organization, Very low salaries, No Benefits, No communications on the work, Employees seem to come and go as quickly as they came in, No real investment from the management team to push you to have a carreer or a future within the company. Very low salaries and almost no benefits. Chaos in work structure, Very long hours, very limited access to complete information about what you are working on.
