- Everyone was friendly, supportive, willing to help and the company really tried to embrace the "tech start up" culture

Low pay. Given I was an intern, it still felt like the salary was below industry standard.
With a startup culture you tend to OT a lot, little documentation and a lot of navigating through ambiguity.

Awesome culture and supportive individuals will really have your back and help you grow as a person. Management tries to give you projects that you're personally interested in; although sometimes it's tough depending on company needs. Communication is solid for the most part with understanding managers. Beer Wednesdays and Fridays. Great people with a relatively young employee-base. Rewards for hard work. Good vacation and wellness days. Decent benefits. Project organization has seen massive improvement in the past 6 months alone. Product looks more modern and is becoming very competitive with many solid features in the pipeline.

Company experienced some brutal growing pains which was tough for everyone but I think the storm has passed. Tech stack is a bit outdated and has a high learning curve which is particularly tough for new developers. Also takes devs longer to get proficient and to find new talent. Pay isn't anything mind-blowing but has gotten better. Can be stressful at times.

Great place to kickoff your career in tech if you have just come out of college or university. It's a fabulous introduction to workflows and processes in the tech startup/ SAAS environment.
Office is also in the heart of Coal Harbour with great office views. But they must've moved by now (east van).

I've worked at Advisor Websites for more than 5 years before making the bold move to leave without a job lined up (yes, it was THAT bad). Things went completely south once they launched a broken product (FORCE) and attempted to cover up their screw up by having teams forcefully (get the pun ;P) market and sale a hot mess. No accountability whatsoever from management and no transparency between teams. It got to a point where the CEO (Bart) had to lay off 10 people, including coops, in 1 day.
They then hired a young consultant to patch things up. He quickly got promoted to COO and a bro culture formed between him and the higher ups. Everybody else's growth was made stagnant but only a few were promoted with fancy but EMPTY titles just to give off a visage that the execs still "cared" about their people.
By my last 2 years of employment, there was no culture and no growth - lower than average salary pay, no real attempts to move people up in the ladder, and no updates to ancient computers to add to the nightmare. It was at a point where employees and even team leads would play a guessing game of who would resign next. People who could afford to leave a stale job did in a heartbeat and those that couldn't were visibly miserable.

Put your people first. Give real recognition and credit to members who have truly devoted so much time, energy, blood, sweat and tears to your company. Compensate them fairly (not with lower than average salary pay) and have some real plans for employee growth and improving your product.

Amazing company culture and they stand behind their company values to serve and grow their people. AW functions and feels like a start-up; however, I have seen myself the growth that this company has made in a short amount of time and will continue to make.
