They are very generous to their employees in regard to benefits, work life balance, the beautiful workspace they have built, and pay, but they go beyond that. They are a company that invests in its employees. Mistakes are not something to be afraid of but looked upon as lessons and investments into their careers. Employees are encouraged to be creative, solution and take action and if direction or support is needed executives are quick and willing to help. This is a company where you can make a difference and are encouraged and supported to try new things. They are also a company that you feel proud to work for. The technology is awesome and the direction they are headed in is groundbreaking. They are a fast growing, lean company who can make changes quickly. They are founded upon core values that promote trust and transparency and they always try to do the right thing, even when the right thing is hard to do. Their customers are not viewed as just customers but are partners, and their success is our success. The executive level is made up of an amazing team with varying viewpoints that create balance and advocates for all. In my almost 5 years at Alianza I have seen them transform the company from a small and successful startup to a company that is paving new grounds at a rapid pace, while maintaining the pieces that have always made Alianza something unique and special. With how quickly they are growing they do not have all of the best tools in place. They are getting there, but it takes time. There is no public transportation and the bike ride from the train station is a little intimidating. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 220640 Open Continue to invest in your employees and grow people into positions. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 4.0 Jan 5th, 2021 10:29PM Jan 5th, 2021 10:29PM Alianza Telecommunications Mobile Telecommunications

Really easy to work with and as a new employee you can count on your team to help you get setup. The company has a good variety of snack, most of which are healthy and if you don't wan to leave for lunch there is always enough food there to make your lunch. The executive team is a bit stale. It seems like the company is constantly spinning the same ideas over and over again. It feels like we simply rebuild the same thing with a new look. It would be nice to see new or added leadership that can bring a fresh idea to a company that is almost 20 years old. Also, it is time to drop the term "new" or "startup" from the regular use in the office. Neither are true and it kind of holds the company focus back. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 3.0 2.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 220640 Open Shake things up, be willing to take actual risks on trying new technologies. I don't think the challenges you describe are as much about "spinning the same ideas over and over" as they are a reflection of how Alianza's leadership needs to do a better job of communicating our current ideas (strategy) to the rest of the company.

Our strategy could not be further from "rebuilding the same thing with a new look". We are launching three completely new product lines this year - things that our customers and the market have been asking for and we are delivering. We do a monthly All-Hands Company Update meeting, where I talk with the company about multiple aspects of our strategy. But as our team grows, this is not enough, and we are expecting our team leads and middle management to do a better job of reinforcing our strategy (purpose, vision, mission, goals and objectives). Not all managers want to do this type of work and unfortunately, some teams were not fully communicated with - which I feel responsible for. private:alianza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=220640 Feb 26th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Alianza Senior Director of Operations Pleasant Grove, UT Great company, amazing people, and a very bright future I've worked at Alianza for nearly three years, and it's been an awesome experience - one I'd been searching for, for years. First, I have the pleasure of working with some of the smartest and most dedicated people in the industry - people who take a great deal of personal ownership and pride in what we do here. We focus on strong cultural fit, and it helps to make for a fun environment, even while providing the most rock solid platform in the industry. Second, I'm a big fan of the executive team. Every one of these people looks for continual feedback, ways to improve, and are thoughtful and reflective on how their decisions impact everyone and everything. This is how a proper executive team should run, and it enables those of us who report up to them to run faster and be better. Third, we are doing awesome things, and we do them well. It's easy to love your job when you're allowed the space to do it right, and to see the huge impact you have when you've done it. Fourth, Alianza cares about work/life balance. They know how much family and life matter, and are always accommodating and encouraging. Alianza pushes us to engage in physical activities outside of work, and encourages a healthy lifestyle. If you are a motivated, thoughtful, culture-aware individual who wants an awesome job, this is the place for you. Not to mention we just moved into an awesome new office! My biggest complaint right now is the Tech Corridor construction you have to go through to get here from Salt Lake. I'm a pretty idealistic person at heart, so if I felt that there were any real cons to this place, I'd work with management to resolve them. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 220640 Open Keep doing what you're doing...and also everything I tell you to. There are great people working at Alianza. With the exception of very few select individuals, everyone is positive, hard working, and supportive of those around them. The executive team is very down-to-earth, they care about the individuals, and they are supportive of the individuals. There are great company benefits, including a company contribution to HSA's, zero employee healthcare premiums, $500 per year per employee for fitness related expenses, another $250 per year per employee for competitive event fees like running event (5k's, 10k's, marathon's, etc), bike races, ironman (person) competitions, ability to work from home as needed, and free snacks/meals/drinks in the break room. Also, we just moved into the 5th floor of an amazing new building with a fantastic work space and epically beautiful views of the mountains and lake (Utah valley, what an amazing place to work!). Alianza has its flaws like every place does (see the cons section), but overall it is definitely the best place I've worked. Alianza is not a new company, but it definitely still operates in many ways like a new one - in other words, there are some growing pains. Personally I like being a part of that and figuring it out, but if it's not for you ... draw your own conclusion! One missing company benefit that might be important to some is a 401k match. There is a 401k, but no match. Maybe take what you would be paying for health insurance premiums out of your own check at some other places and put it toward more 401k funds - or maybe an even better retirement vehicle than a 401k 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 220640 Open I don't know how to run a company, so I'm not going to pretend I do and try give to you some "amazing advice" in that area! private:alianza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=220640 Jan 14th, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Alianza Program Manager Lindon, UT The best company I've ever been with One of the things that I love the most about Alianza is how we take the time to think about what we're doing, why we're doing them, and how we'll get from where we are to where we want to be. Our executive and leadership staff spends a significant amount of time defining, discussing, and applying our core values with each other and our staff. Not in a preachy way, but as core principles that we can lean on when we need to make decisions. I've never been with a company who was more clear on who we are. That's take effort and balance too, because we're also an agile company and we move fast, yet Alianza balances fast innovation with solid core principles in a way that strengthens my trust in the company. I've been here for almost 3 years and I can count at least 5 times where Alianza has gone out of its way to support my personal mental/physical health and career ambitions. I've received opportunities here that I haven't received at other companies, and it's meant the world to me. I've also been able to have a significant impact directly on the business thought my contributions. Alianza consistently hires top professionals, which means that everyone here is equipped to make significant and long lasting contributions. I see the long lasting efforts of my work permeate through the company and that has brought me a very high level of job satisfaction. The culture, benefits, technology, financials, business-outlook, office, leadership, CEO, and people at Alianza are the best that I've ever experienced. I can't say enough positive things about Alianza, I'm grateful for Alianza, and I will enjoy working here for a very long time. private:alianza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=220640 Feb 14th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Alianza Devops Engineer Lindon, UT Fulfilling Place To Work and Grow - Excellent People I've worked at Alianza for almost two years and have loved it thus far. The people are friendly and supportive, and the workplace is relaxed and fun. I've always enjoyed coming to work. There's a sense of openness in the office, from the floor layout, to the way you can walk up to anyone and have a conversation or get help across teams. The small-company vibe creates a comaraderie amongst the office that we are accomplishing something cool, with excited/positive attitudes all around. The company treats employees well: compensation, covering insurance premiums, a health bonus, the best snack room I've seen at a tech company in Utah (you list it, they buy it), swag shirts/jackets/bottles, 401k (no match), adjustable standing desks, and regular one-on-ones with managers. They've paid for techical training, even optional endeavors I was interested in. There's also random perks like rock gym memberships, golf and skiing passes. Historically, PTO has been a "flexible policy" - which I've loved (hope it stays this way as they grow). When employees have accepted offers at other companies, entire departments have been taken out for company-sponsored "fairwell lunches" to wish them well. I've been continually impressed with the leadership team. They are humble and approachable, constantly soliciting for feedback. We have monthly "all hands on" meetings where the CEO shares a transparent update of the company, and promotes a candid, open environment. You can tell how committed the leadership team is to doing the right thing, while there are tough decisions to make in a smaller, growing business with constrained resources. I've always respected their style and think they've set a positive, hard-working vibe across the company. The growth curve is a solid pro - I'm looking foward to seeing where they are able to take the company. No 401k match yet. Being a smaller company, there's not a lot of official training for new hires/new roles. Employees have to learn things as they go, rather than having knowledge dispensed through documented training. There's a big opportunity to improve the customer experience, making the company more "customer oriented", which hopefully happens in the short term. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 0.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 220640 Open Continue to hire from within when possible. private:alianza https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=220640 Feb 2nd, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Alianza Lindon, UT Great people terrible culture and leaders A very talented group of people work at Alianza. there are some cool employee perks. They have identified a real need with legitimate business possibilities. CEO is tremendous at tracking down funding and sales relationship building. The core employee group is also very VOIP knowledgeable. They were pretty apathetic to customer experience as they built out alluring features to possible new clients while trying to get profitable. Senior Management would frequently critique development, project management, qa and other departments which they have no knowledge or experience in. It was powerpoint torture for project/product managers trying to communicate something only to get nit picked over details immaterial to the decision to be made or information to be conveyed. Days would be spent agonizing over internal powerpoint presentations prior to them lasting 10-20 mins. Senior leadership would also determine someone incapable of something because of something they read or heard about Google or Apple doing better than Alianza. My experience was they see themselves as reader's digest experts on everything while ignoring some harsh realities of being a young company struggling to grow. The employee development I experienced was simply criticism of what my manager did not understand. Expectations were to make Alianza white paper worthy but with no time or resources to accomplish it. The open PTO policy became an expectation to have no time off when attempting to take the 1 pre approved week off I got in two years was positioned as a burden to the company upon returning. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 9.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 4.0 1.0 220640 Open CEO/Founder should step down and hire someone with experience running and scaling an existing business. Being tenaciously driven by gut feel and refusal to hear 'no' makes one a tremendous entrepreneur but a pretty poor leader. The executive leadership team needs to be more honest about what they don't know and trust the people they hire. Start caring about your customers experience by prioritizing their pain points rather than expecting them to get over it. 0.0
I am sorry to hear that you did not have a more positive experience at Alianza. I appreciate the feedback and hope that I can learn from it and be better in the future. I’d like to respond to a few of your comments:

I acknowledge that our senior team often provides direct feedback and critiques performance. I understand that this can be uncomfortable for some people. However, at Alianza, open and honest feedback is a part of our culture. One of our core values states: “We care enough to be candid and objective in our interactions with each other.” If we can’t be critical of each other and ourselves, I believe we are robbing ourselves and Alianza of opportunities to learn, grow and improve. Our desire for open feedback is not just top down. I welcome feedback and criticism on the executive team's performance and on my performance and decisions. I know I have lots of areas where I can improve; and I want to learn and grow from the advice of others…especially those that have achieved high levels of performance; including Google, Apple or any other company, employee or outsider that has something to offer that is going to help Alianza or me to be better. No sacred cows at Alianza; just a hefty appetite to learn, grow and continually improve.

I’m also sorry about your PTO experience. A few years ago we started experimenting with a less formal PTO policy. We hoped that if PTO was managed directly between each employee and their direct manager, it would focus the company on contribution and merit, rather than the simple accrual method. We heard of other companies having success with this approach and wanted to give it a try at Alianza. At first, feedback from the team was positive, but after a few years we started seeing challenges and pockets of abuse from both managers and employees. At the beginning of 2018, we listened to employee feedback and implemented a hybrid PTO policy with better guardrails and more clearly defined expectations, but still not the simple accrual method we used before. At the same time, we also implemented a new sabbatical policy for employees that have built up tenure and domain experience with Alianza. So far, the response has been positive, but I’m always open for critical feedback on changes or tweaks we could make to help us be even better.

Another of our values states that, “We align all we do with the customer experience in mind.” It is because of our deep care for our customers and their experience working with Alianza, that we hold ourselves to such a high bar for individual, team and company performance.
