If you are looking for a job that will keep you stressed out 12 hours at a time and the lack of resources to do your job professionally then this is for you. Being called in to cover alt shifts is a regular thing. Favoritism is a big thing nepotism is even bigger with multiple conflict of interest. I was terminated with no escalation of discipline for something that I would do again in a heartbeat because of my morals and ethics. In short run far, run fast from here.

I was an employee for a few years with this company and I can tell you there is no real room to move up. Never really got any raises and management doesn't really care about you. Supervisors are nice and most coworkers are nice but you will get burnt out fast

Family-like coworkers
|
I've worked here less than a year and in my time here I have received a lot of support. Management goes out of their way to help you achieve personal and professional goals ( within reason). Most of the crew members come to work with fun, positive attitudes and make the best out of every shift. it is so refreshing to see crews go above and beyond the call of duty to help patients, even if its something small. It really does feel like family. We have good working relations with local hospital staff and our patients. I do enjoy the workplace culture.
There are safety standards in place to help keep all employees healthy as we continue to power through the Covid pandemic. Crews are always giving every piece of PPE the company can provide.
The hardest part of my job ( and this is at any company I've worked for) is picking up the slack from lazy employees. Sometimes you get your ambulance and the trash wasn't emptied or the stretcher isn't put back together. I'm a clean freak and small things like that irritate me to no end. although, Management does its best to hold the crews accountable for these kinds of situations.
Also, I ( for the first time in history) really like our dispatchers. They are kind, professional, and do their very best to keep crews informed. yes, there are some grumpy apples, but they don't spoil the whole basket if you get what I mean.
To be successful here, its really simple. Come to work and do your job. Don't act like a pre-Madonna, don't be an idiot, don't be lazy and everything rolls smoothly.

I hate it here.
|
This area is ran poorly. Mangers and VP are either married or best friends. It’s not a healthy environment for a career choice. Part time, not a big deal. Employee retainment is a real issue in GT. Employees are awesome and great to work with but management makes it miserable. I’m definitely in the market for another FT job. The Ducks are the only thing enjoyable with Georgetown station. You’re better off working somewhere else.

Horrible place to work
|
Allegiance San Antonio has had a few good supervisors that have come through during my time there, most of the good ones tend to find other employment fairly quickly after the first 6mo to a year so management changes often. Communication is deplorable at best between supervisors and crews, and between supervisors, you ask three supervisors the same question and you get three different answers. By far Dispatch is the worst I have ever worked with, thats coming from someone who has worked with some of the most rural county dispatches.
Organization is horrific, logistics, and system status management is non-existent.
New employees can expect minimal training on equipment and PCRs programs, I've had numerous times where new employees were never told that we have two systems one for inventory and one for narcotics.
Manditory over time, is often because of lack of personal, there are times where you come in and you may be sent to corpus, junction, or orange county because of the company is taking on contracts that they are not prepared to staff. Medical equipment is barely maintained, and vehicle maintenance is a novelty. I spent nearly $100.00 in antifreeze, oil, air compresser time at gas stations and drove trucks with severely cracked windshields, no A/C, and the company has had ambulances catch fire before because of poor maintenance.
Watch your back, witch hunts are a normal occurents, management will not back you up or take responsibility for their disorganization. Snitching and back stabbing is common.
Procrastination is everywhere, you turn in paperwork they say that it will get done and it never is, or they just lose it. Getting simple tasks done is a novelty.
Sick time will be taken from your PTO, PTO days will go missing, you will never see the money and HR will not respond to emails about it.
PT care and protocols are very non aggressive and need some updates just to meet common national standards.

Excellent work environment
|
They have made huge changes in their Central Tx market over the past two years that have been great for the company. When I started they were running maybe 10 calls in a 24 hour period with 3 units and now they are running 700 plus calls in a 24 hour period with 5 units and 2 new units on the way. I’ve never worked for a company where everyone gets along and can work together no matter what. I like that they will hire new Emt’s right out of school and give them a chance unlike other companies I’ve worked for that want experience first. The Management team is always willing to help you with skills or anything else you need even if it doesn’t have to deal work. So if your looking for that EMS company that will truly treat you like family and you want to enjoy going to work again check out Allegiance!!

Stay away, toxic environment
|
Unless you become friends with management you will never promote. They constantly replace supervisors, nobody stays long term. One day the boss likes you, then the next you’re useless to her.

Terrible company to work for
|
Steer clear. The equipment is outdated and the trucks are old and broken. You'll do mostly renal roundup with a few nursing home calls here and there. It's not worth it. Management are the typical greedy, shifty private EMS penny pinchers who will screw you out of hours whenever the call volume dips. There are better options out there.
