A few years ago more talent fled. Now a handful of the remaining old guard talented people are trying to update their core products designed around 10 years ago. They hire as needed to fill new DOD contracts projects JIT and if you cannot overcome the technical debt, forgotten knowledge, and tribal knowledge you are gone. Its really sad the amount of salary that is paid to managers. Its not even a living wage and they expect you to work well above the 50( Hours per week). The company accepts contracts that it knows it cannot fulfill and then blames engineering when the contract deadlines continuously shift to the right. Resources both hardware and personnel are limited and often affect deadlines. Engineers are discouraged from voicing concerns, not that they get passed the invidual's immediate manager (of which there are likely to be several). The upper level management has no interest in facilitating an environment of collaboration and prefers to pit teams against each other and actively encourages siloing. You will be lied to, and then told it is your fault if you are not able to meet an impossible deadline with limited or no resources- all because management has designed a product from the ether that cannot actually exist physically given current technology. This will all be done while there are additional plans to go after even larger and more impractical projects without consultation to engineering staff and without the intention of growing the staff to the levels necessary to fulfill their obligations to their partners. This is to say nothing of the miserable benefits, pay and borderline abusive treatment. TLDR: AVOID As per the reviews that indicate other locations- Ampex Data Systems has only 2 locations- Hayward and Colorado Springs.
