Questionable Management

There is misogyny when it comes to leadership here. I guess its to be expected when it comes to the male steel dominated industry but its very obvious here. There is no such thing as employment security, there were three layoffs in the span of a year. Turnover is very high, benefits are almost non-existent, compensation is basically the lowest they can get away with. This then translates as devaluing you as a person. The community that is there is great, but there are components such as those mentioned above that just make it not worth it.

Overall it is a good company to work for.
|
Repect the fact that they are very clean and orderly here. Like my lead and enjoy the work and learning experience. Really work with you if you are not that experienced with cnc machines. I enjoy working there.no hard part about it because someone is always willing to help you learn.

The night shift was always calm. Anchor was very laid back. It was definitely an experience.
The starting pay was ok but their raise were never really enough

Good job to have had to leave because lived to far but learned alot met alot of hard workers i started as a helper to an operator to a part puller to a plasma operator back to the roller operator was doing both at one point

It's a fair job.

I worked for a sister company of Anchor Fabrication from 2013 until the time they shut it down and moved the work to their main company. I have to say it was one of the overall most decent jobs I ever had in the metal fab industry. Sure, every company has its pros and cons but if you did your job, stayed busy, and kept your mouth shut, you could make some money. They gave overtime like nothing and had holiday lunches and quarterly rewards. Employees were all pretty cool and easy to get along with. They respected your faith and didn't discriminate.

Dear reader, If you work day shift at Anchor Fabrication in any given dept, almost everyone there speaks little to no English. The supervisors and leads are bilangual but there’s a fraternity of favoritisms and cliques there between the workers and Supervisors so if you’re not of Mexican or Latino decent, don’t expect to move up on day shift. I seriously wish I was kidding about that one. 2nd and 3rd shift is a little better in opportunity if you’re ok with cancelling your personal/family life (did that here too) also if you’re considering applying for material handler, DONT DO IT the materials manager over shipping/receiving/forklifts is a complete psycho with a raging authority complex and certainly won’t care about your family life. Case in point. There’s a five minute grace period in clocking in earlier or later but everyone who works there pushes the envelope in the tardiness generally if it’s not incredibly late like 30 or 45 mins the supervisors won’t even bother you about it. the forklift boss will write you up for clocking in after 6-7 mins if it’s more than once. he’ll also make you come in on Saturday when the whole company is off work just to repaint yellow striping and staging areas in the warehouse because he wanted it to look fresh we would even have to come in just to sweep the floor little things like that are usually mandatory And will only take like an hour or less
