This job did allow for quite a bit of travel due to the events and you had the flexibility to work on your own time.
|
I worked here for years and slowly watched the CEO completely derail the company. She pushed away all of the talented employees who acted as glue to bring in business but ultimately her poor attitude and inability to listen to the people around her resulted in them leaving to join better companies with a more reliable paycheck.
There is no direction for the company, and when asking the CEO to explain the vision nobody could get a clear answer. I was told we would be figuring it out as we went which told me that the only goal was to try and sell a contract so people could get paid.
No project was ever finished because the CEO would throw out an idea and assign it to someone who had no previous experience and provided no resources. When you didn't deliver on this impossible task you where likely the one blamed.

I spent years of my life at your company trying my best to do what needed to be done but after the first 12 months I lived with constant stress of either losing my job because the company couldn't pay it's bills, getting fired for not delivering on a nearly impossible task, or a client calling in the middle of the night with something going wrong in the different part of the world.

CEO is severely disconnected, unorganized, cheap, and doesn't appear to have a vision for the company or even know the industry she's trying to innovate. When you say you're a salesperson over CEO, there's a problem. All the talented people that moved the company forward jumped ship after being hampered by leadership. Oh and pay is hilariously low. Laughably.

The AngelHack team is very competent and leaders in the hackathon community. They have forged a large lead in the market and have helped countless numbers of companies start and grow.

When I was working at AngelHack in 2011, it was just starting out, so there were quite a few kinks to deal with. Basic company infrastructure and support was not there, but the vision and traction was strong. I believe they've overcome these problems now.

You get to attend networking events and meet some pretty influential figures.

As others already mentioned, the executive team is made up of teenagers who have no idea what they're doing. The last CEO was pushed out due to unethical behavior, but the new is not much better. Employees are constantly being disrespected and fired for no reason at all. Both full time employees and interns are forced to work insane amount of hours with very low pay. They will recruit you by expressing how "cool" they are, but it is just one of their many manipulative tactics. Stay away from this company and don't trust the fake reviews.

I've worked for NASA Ames, Stanford University, University of California Irvine and many other top-tier organizations and AngelHack ranks right up there with all of the above. Prior to my employment at AngelHack I was a fairly non-technical person, but after two years, and due to the mentorship I've received at AngelHack, I am very comfortable and confident communicating to a technical clientele and developer base - as a minority women I'd give AngelHack a gold star for putting more women into the Bay Area tech scene.

AngelHack is a startup environment in every sense of the word. Employees that are the happiest here are able to fail fast, learn from their mistakes and pivot easily. If you love a hierarchy then this also might not be a fit - each individual is seen as an integral part of the whole and bears the responsibility as such.
