Mehhh…. I wouldn’t recommend AON3D
|
I thought long and hard on what to write. I wanted to give honest feedback, be it positive or negative, so that potential employees know what they’re getting involved with.
Let us start with the Pros:
- Flexible work schedule and hybrid (remote) work.
- Acceptable salary and employee benefits.
- The majority of the Success Team take their work to heart and provide great results. Solid team. Knowledgeable. Helpful.
- Company offers the employees free snacks and refreshments.
- Management will encourage, and pay, employees to further their education if related to their daily tasks.
- Once upon a time, the company paid Friday lunches to those who worked at the office. However, this was canceled due to certain employees complaining that the restaurant menu didn’t have enough selection (according to HR).
- Casual dress code.
- Bonus paid out for 2021. Do not know if bonus will be paid for upcoming years.
Cons:
- Far too many employees are messy and disorganized. Workstations covered with dying plants and 3D printed test parts. If you have the slightest bit of OCD, or are a germaphobe, this company will have you climbing the walls after day 2.
- Lack of basic tools. It isn’t normal for a technician to bring their own tape measure to work. Yes, you read that right: a simple tape measure. No tool crib. It’s a free-for-all.
- Offices can be very noisy due to the machines running in the next room. No ear plugs are offered to employees.
- Due to the nature of 3D printing, the fumes caused by certain polymer materials pollute the office spaces. Poor air filtration, if any.
- The smell of wacky-tabacco coming through the floors/walls is strong. Building owner was notified but nothing came of it.
- Inaccurate, missing and/or misplaced engineering documents. The joy.
- FAR too many meetings with a company with so few employees. Coffee will quickly become your best friend. Don’t like coffee? You will.
- Do NOT leave your personal belongings at your workstation when you aren’t present. Trust me when I tell you that you’ll be sorry that you did.
- If you’re an individual with many years of related experience, this place isn’t for you. Suggestions go flat-out ignored/snubbed. A few junior Tony-Stark-wannabe engineers have the last say and management just follows like a mule follows a carrot. Basically, it’s a “go-along-and-we’ll-get-along” atmosphere.
- If you’re looking for a challenge, this company will not contribute positively to your IQ level.
- High employee turnover. Very. This makes many employees nervous, and with good reason.
- Nothing in this company is black and white. Management make/change the rules as they go along. Take everything that management tells you with a grain of salt.
- If you possess strong work ethics, this company will gradually wear you down if you stay too long.
- Management is incompetent (not all, mind you) and when a mistake is made, you get the, “We’re just a young start-up company… sorry” spiel. But this gets old, and irritating, fast. No accountability, just excuses.
- Upper management, and certain co-founders, need to take courses in human ethics as many lack in the honesty department. It’s a take-it-or-leave-it deal.
- Doing overtime for this company is NOT recommended as you will not get paid for hours worked. Management has nickel-and-dimed hardworking personnel and paid far less than the hours put it. Do your 37.5 hours and disconnect.

I have been in the company long enough to see it grow and mature a lot. It is true that times were not always easy in the past and that there was a lack of proper management.
Thankfully, AON3D listened to their employees and was determined to get better and settle for a nicer, more friendly, and organized work environment. My manager does care about me and I feel that they are giving the team the right tools to succeed.
It is a fast-paced environment where you need to learn fast, adapt and be proactive, but this kind of work energizes me. Working at AON3D is far from being boring!
