No pension match. Health benefits could be a little better.

Great Team, Great Product, Great opportunity.
I joined Aperia when it was a full-on startup. While we weren't working out of an actual garage the "office" we were in was very close (the company subsequently moved to a real facility). Watching the company grow has been a lot of fun; this growth has been made possible by the passion and experience of the management team. It is extremely challenging to bring a complex, physical product to market, especially in mass quantities as they have done. While Aperia doesn't have the sleekest product to come out of Silicon Valley they are on track to make an actual difference, which is more than most companies can claim. I learned a ton while working with the engineering team there, advanced my career, and made friends I've stayed in touch with years later.

Team lunch should be mid-week so there are leftovers in the office.....although I always liked bringing them home with me on Friday evening.

Turnover, talking down to engineers
Most employees were friendly and liked to collaborate, but I had a fundamental operation and mindset conflict with my boss. Pay, benefits ok. The product is simple and great! The problem it addresses has a big market. Josh was awesome.
1st mo on the job 2 eng quit, one had just left before me. Brandon (CTO) tells me he wouldn't have hired me if he knew i was having a kid because he needed me to work ungodly hours. I was gone by not long after. When proposed a design improvement I was told the way they worked by doing lots of testing and failing rapidly that I should do what I'm told. That's berserk and a waste of resources.

The engineer looking at the problem day in and day out should be listened to. You probably shouldn't be doing wheelies on your dirt bike in the parking lot after drinking beer.

Racist company
Free food every friday. Josh is cool though.
Racist head bosses. No team structure. Lazy management who doesnt reward people for great work ethics. No balance. Pay is very low and if you're black you will get fired and picked at instantly. Every year you get a raise of $0.25

Awesome clean technology start-up with great people!
Aperia has a great office culture with total start-up environment: stocked kitchen, Friday team lunch & learns, "Annual Aperia Olympics" and other awesome team building events. The company is still small enough where management works with you on individual basis but big enough to give you the space to own your domain.
Huge learning opportunity. Lot of very unique problems to solve and figure out. I am constantly learning so many new things every day after being at the company for almost 2 years now and have grown so much from it. Things are always changing and you are being challenged every day. That growth in addition to the innovative product and awesome team is why I love my job.
Innovative product and a great team that all believe in the product which I find to be super important to be successful.
As a start-up you create process as you are crossing that bridge. A pro for passionate people who like to think on their feet and create processes or structure. For others it can make it tough to get into a rhythm.
