Base salary was ok but increases where hard to get.
I can see how working for a coorporate machine can work for some people.....those with a backbone left.

The worst thing about working for Aptean is nobody quite knows what is going on. Aptean HR are the worst, they just ask each other and go round in circles. Anyone senior is American and away with the fairies. I didn't appreciate the term "dumb American" before speaking to Aptean Management.
Toxic work environment from senior managers. Its hard going through an acquisition with Aptean, I worked for a small/medium company, Aptean bought us out and said they purchased the company for the employees - our product knowledge etc and to help us grow. We where promised in our initial meeting that their was going to be no redundancy and everything would be rosey. They are very good at this - making out it is all ok, 6-12 months down the line, over half the staff had been made redundant, all development in china/india who dont know the product/different time zones, all customers had something bad to say about Aptean, whether it was the fact their support costs had significantly increased and the staff number had gone down - no logic here! Or just the fact they could never speak to anyone from their - the most they would get is a mid level director saying sorry via email.
With all this in mind it is hard to have the "town halls" as they call them - global company meetings. It is very very American - any self respecting British person will sit cringing the whole way through, its hard to watch the ceo dress up as a spaceman, climb into a pretend spaceship and "blast off" because the company made half a billion....lucky staff got a cupcake each. Every town hall is ultimate cringe and a waste of time, we all stopped attending, it was hard to attend anyway due to the lack of staff and all the bugs being made by the offshore new dev team.
They said we had to come to the office everyday because they wanted us to be social. When I said I work to support customers and get paid, and have a social life outside of work, not inside. I was told it was non-negotiable. You can only work from home if it is a Tuesday or Wednesday and with management approval and they want to know why you are working from home. Backwards mentality.
Progression - Myself and others where told promotions only in April - but the top level dogs seem to switch and change their vice president of whatever titles every few months, and I really dont care to hear constantly who is now reporting to who - nobody cares.
Micromanagement, from people who have no idea how a software company works, incredibly frustrating. Account reps had no idea about our software and where telling/promising customers whatever they liked, I had to speak to a customer on behalf of an account rep as they had shouted at him and he was scared, this was about billing, hard to swallow when I work in software support and he probably got paid a lot more than me.
When I handed in my notice I was totally shunned, only interested in their survey for an exit interview (Oh yeah they love you filling out a million surveys a year to give them a pat on the back, they do not take any negative comments away from it and try to do better). My exit interview was a joke, I said I hadn't been paid properly and they did not know who to speak too.
They don't replace people who are made redundant or just have enough and leave, it is a shame that a once great software company was taken over by a greedy cooperate madhouse and piece by piece chipped away at. Im sure soon as has already started - customers will move to other product lines in Aptean and the branch will be liquidised.
All these positive reviews must be paid for, nobody in Aptean had anything positive to say - this is for employees for different Aptean products and customers.
