With the exception of employee supervision or developing curricla, it's a great resume booster! Feel like you are making a difference and actually contributing to marine conservation and sustainability education. Your coworkers aren't just your peers--they're family! Opportunities to advance are not necessarily based on skill, but on longevity at the organization. Few opportunities (if any) to move up. CEO and higher management are out of touch with museum research, diversity, equity, and inclusion practices. Many times the management asks for feedback and then it is promptly ignored until something goes wrong. Tough to have a work and life balance in this position. There are overnight shifts, 10+ hour days, and very early mornings/late nights each week in your schedule. **This review is based on experiences prior to COVID-19 pandemic. Bad management that never supports staff even when customers are rude, even if they are cussing you out. Customers can sometimes be terrible, which can be very disheartening. Pay is minimum wage, and there are almost no opportunities to move up. They prefer to hire outside the organization for management (salaried) positions. The staff is so talented and fun, and I learned so much about myself, our oceans, and our world while here. I always felt supported. I always felt prepared.
