It almost didn't feel like working because there were so many other interns, it felt like a more chill extension of university.. The work was also challenging and interesting, and the name speaks for itself.

- The company has lots of interesting projects in both software and hardware.
- There are different of ways to get support within the team, or reach out to different teams to ask about things or collaborate.
- As an intern, there may be opportunities to participate in presentations and meetings that helps developing soft skills in addition to hard skills learnt from the project work.
- There is a very nice company gym with more than enough equipment for both cardio and muscular activities.
- The expectations might be quite high, which might be good as a growing engineer but a possibly bit stressful.

A friendly and open working environment
|
· It's a big company, with a highly diverse set of lines of business, and they have a rotation scheme where employees can move to work in different teams for an extended period (I believe 6 months), so you're likely to be able to find and try something that inspires you.
· My team was friendly, and I felt comfortable talking to the higher-up managers in my department.
· Working hours were flexible, and employees are in fact strongly discouraged from working late, contributing to a healthy-seeming working environment.
· The part-time undergraduate scheme has been discontinued so you can't do that any more, only full-time placements.
· The coffee machine in my nearest kitchen was broken for what felt like a month.
· My assignment wasn't what I expected, and everyone involved acknowledged that it was too much work for a 3-month placement; it was also mostly separate from the work the rest of my team was doing, so I felt a little isolated.
· My desk didn't have a keyboard or monitor when I arrived, which seemed a bit disorganised.

Relaxed, welcoming work environment. Everyone was really nice :), the office is recently renovated and looks really cool. Only negative is it is based in Cambridge (the area is expensive).

Great place for an internship
|
Arm has a very relaxing work environment. The schedule is flexible, and it's very normal to ask for leave during the day or leave for an hour for the gym. For interns, there is no pressure for code deliveries.
It's fine to start slowly and take time to learn at your own pace. People at the workplace are friendly and often invite you to join them for lunch. Initially, I lacked experience with the technologies used in the project. My team gave me a lot of encouragement.
Projects at Arm are usually long-spanning, and sometimes there are no strict deadlines for a project. Therefore, many times the task is to define the problem instead of solving it. This might cause some frustrations.
One drawback is that the salary is the same for all interns. I did my internship at the end of my third year but was paid the same as first-year undergraduates and PhDs. However, the graduate role salary is very decent, including relocation fees, and I'm happy to accept the offer.

Arm is outcome focused so don't care that much about arbitrary metrics if your work is complete. The teams are quite connected informally (i.e. slack).

Supportive workplace where you can work on interesting technologies

As an Part-Time Undergraduate software engineer (intern) at Arm, I felt genuinely included in the workplace. My tasks included investigating, planning and developing a new feature. I learned how to apply my programming skills to a professional environment, and how a team of software engineers work together. The management, both for my team and my personal line manager, was excellent and very supportive. The hardest part about the job is learning many new concepts at the same time, such as different workflows and technologies. The most enjoyable part of the job was figuring out tough problems with the coding.

Good company to work for, with a relaxed environment. Pay is standardish and they don't generally allow for fully remote work.
The company itself has made some very questionable management decisions in the past, but never the less is positioned well in the market.
