Great co-workers & benefits, shakey strategy

Co-workers are great. Many are librarians and people interested in the arts. Benefits are tops, great health insurance and 4 weeks vacation.

Not the greatest

The salary and benefits are good. Great colleagues. The organization has very noble aims and strong ties to the community it serves.
|
The company is going through a merger which seems to be changing some organizational focus. Most employees are stretched thin. Little room for growth, lots of stale ideas.

Failed leadership
|

The mission of the company attracts really great cultured people who are smart, dedicated, and passionate about their roles and the company's mission.
|
Time and time again leadership arrogantly and/or ignorantly thwarts any improvement in company culture, workflow, products and services. Leadership lacks management skills which ends up creating a toxic environment for their employees. Leadership does not listen to their employees ideas. Theres no place to go for conflict resolution. Basic IT doesn't work which makes a frustrating and less productive work environment. Theres a lack of accountability company wide.

Great Colleagues Poor Leadership

I work with some really smart people on a day to day basis. They are passionate, and involved about their subject area. Great benefits.
|
- Poor Salary
- No organization lack of structure
- Terrible leadership, no communication, and no streamline vision for company
- Petty disputes among managers and senior "leadership"
- Some people are clearly overworked because of recent firings
- Support is short staffed - there's only one person answering email and phone calls all day
- Ridiculous exploition of intelligent staff members and their time without the right pay

A nice office and some of the best health insurance out there.

Artstor lacks basic infrastructure you expect from a workplace. Functioning email, support with staff problems, all these things are frequently lacking. The company moved offices and experienced a month without email or phones. Employees seeking HR's help with workplace issues have historically been punished for it, leading to a cutthroat environment rife with rumors, manipulation, and backstabbing, since employees have no venue for raising legitimate complaints. Employees known to be incompetent remain on the job for years with increasing pay despite consistent and obvious blunders.

Great colleagues but bad leadership

Engaged colleagues who are passionate about what they do. A great organizational mission. Beautiful offices and great benefits. Great work-life balance.

Inept and clueless leadership which seems to block many potential improvements resulting in interdepartmental secrecy. Leadership is very cut off from what is happening in the rest of the organization. Toxic and highly political company culture. Very disorganized.
