Most mismanaged place I have ever worked
The colleagues and co-workers were incredible, the opportunities are once in a lifetime, the work load isn't too strenuous
Management one of the worst I have ever worked with. They decided to restructure the team and let go of three of our staff members by saying it wasn't a "good fit" with no severance. Not to be trusted, they will screw you over the way they are screwing over hundreds of songwriters because they can't pay their bills due to the COVID crisis.

Think less of yourself and more about the employees. Executives spend millions in T&E in First Class travel and expensive hotel rooms. In addition they spend millions in useless award shows. This company is using the pandemic as an excuse to reduce staff. Beth reduce your T&E and save jobs. Music creators (members) pay attention to what ASCAP Executives are doing with your royalties.

Benefits
Able to establish a network
I was a Global Services Rep at ASCAP. The department is very unorganized. This is mainly a call center job. Hardly any training was given for this position. Poor management definitely plays a part in the stressful environment of this specific department as well.
Overall, this position will make you unhappy and give you a headache.

High Experience / Low growth
Valuable Experience. Those who pay attention can learn a lot about the traditional Music Industry and even more about the emerging Digital Business: where music is not a single product to be consumed (like a CD or mp3), but rather, a total envelope to be accessed (like streaming service that also blends into other entertainment media).
Nice Employees. Wonderful staff and employees. With the exception of a few bad apples (which can exist in any company) the overall majority of ASCAP's staff always made me feel welcome and at home.
Low opportunities for Advancement. (In my eyes) very little growth -- meaning, if they hire you as _____ Title / Position; Years later, you will still be in said role. While some staff did move upward (or laterally through other Depts), these instances were rare. To be fair, the organization is a highly regulated, non-profit, which could be a legitimate reason for the limited growth.

horrible for a sane individual's mental health
some of the younger employees have less of a dog eat dog mentality and are very intelligent and easy to get along with. It is quite refreshing to be surrounded by such talented individuals
working at this company was horrific. my boss verbally and mentally abused me for months, he eventually started telling lies on me to get me to leave preemptively. Senior management has absolutely no representation filled with one particular type of people (read between the lines), they stress team building events that will occur on a Friday and proceed to walk past you like you are a diseased stranger the very next Monday. When creating a company culture those in senior management are very aware what it will take to create a nurturing environment for their employees. Do they want to do this? I don't think so. The archonic forces at this company are hard at work attempting to drain your energy and keep pertinent knowledge between the very few at the top. It makes me wonder about the future of the industry as PROs are an integral part of what keeps the wheels turning and the lights on for many writers and artists in general.
