Safe but becoming worse
|
Ascension Aleixan Brother's was a great place when I first started. Safe staffing ratios, less acute patients, great doctors. Once our manager left, our upper management started taking advantage of this. They took a staff away even though we were the most acute unit. Overall it's still one of the better behavioral hospitals, but quality has gone done recently.

Better incentives then some hospitals near by

The culture as with many nursing job isn’t the greatest, but there the incentive pay is a big plus side to working there. Administration doesn’t consider nursing staff when making decisions that effects them.

Money is the most important thing to this company, not patient care. They will make you work like a dog for minimal pay. If you care about your patients, do not apply here.

Got great clinical experience. Worked as a travel RN and by far one of the nicer hospitals with decent equipment. Typical hospital shifts and politics...I will say though at all the sites I worked, DSMC was horrible due to certain units' staff. I know experiences with the nurses/units can vary, but there are some really mean and nasty nurses at this site. Just there to take care of patients, not be part of any "high school drama." What's worse the units who had their "better than everyone " cliques, the managers normally were part of it too. Makes it hard to work for units like this. Other than that its alright, but you can find better with less stress.

The Ascension/ St Vincent stress center is horrible. Very toxic work environment, extremely unethical leadership that are dishonest and talk poorly about staff. Overall pay is decent and good benefits. But neither our worth The toxic work environment. It’s a shame. You would think a mental health facility would have more stable, supportive, and positive work environment.
