(What is used to entice people during the interview process, however it’s all smoke & mirrors) Far too much travel, especially if you have a family. Management does not communicate with the team about any issues big or small. Could be seen on the surface as less micromanaging. But, it’s not really even managing. The team is usually on their own to figure everything out. Project Engineers are not valued. When large bids are not won, management lays off people, and the ones that are left are stretched thin until they can’t take it anymore and quit. Show them they are valued. Speak with them both as a group and one on one. Don’t joke about quitting. Be engaged. Lead by example. Show up on time to work. Be honest about the company’s prospects. Don’t be like the CEO; Show up to the office and engage with your team. Headquarters has a game hall, a gym, and lots of free fluids. The departments mostly have up to three people, so it's more intimate. It's not very welcoming. Management is so self absorbed, if you choose not to work, they won't notice. private:ascentcorporation https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=768822 Jun 6th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Ascent (Missouri) Engineer United States USA Ascent Company Culture the pros are the majority of the employees who need to be recognized Ascent pretends to have a fun and all accepting culture, however when I found out about yet another event paid for by the company that only certain people were invited to, how does that fit into the team-building or for that matter the mentality of those employees were not invited. There is no criteria for who got invited, you’d think one could easily add all corporate employees to a list and easily filter by department or function and each time invite a new department or departments. I believe that if a system like this was used, feelings wouldn’t be hurt by the same people continuing to get invited. If a system like this wasn’t adopted another way to ease tensions would be to offer a little something extra to the employees paycheck, for example $20 dollars who were not invited. It’s not fair that the usual people continue to get invited and get a night out at the Cardinals game for free. I’m a baseball fan and I know how quick beers add up, so I think an extra $20 to each is rather small considering each beer is $8 or start doing a better job to invite different people. Now, let’s reflect on how one might get invited – well first you’ll need to take numerous long winded breaks, enjoy partaking from the company keg, be friends with the “social planner” and it’s a plus if you’re a smoker. Unfortunately, if you don’t fall into one of the above mentioned classes you’ll most likely be passed over for an invite. Ascent needs to realize that the people who routinely don’t get invited are tired of being stereotyped and treated unfairly. This is causing the hard workers to start working less in anticipation of getting invited to the next game/event. Ascent has some great service offerings but the current employees as a “whole” need to be treated fairly to maintain the hard working staff and not just those who like to party. One might think that Ascent only has ten corporate employees but oh no, that isn’t true there are almost one hundred employees at the corporate site – start including more people! The turnover rate is also a bit concerning especially since the company is losing hard working employees.
