The market is so crowded, and Ascentis has no real advantage against the competition. Just can’t compete against Ultimate, Kronos, and Paycom, Paycor, and Paychex. Sales personnel is reactive, and willing to give anything away to get a deal. Sales leadership is suspect, and allows a boy’s club mentality to permeate. Certain people can get away with any behavior in how they treat others, despite the company values. Leadership will look the other way, as long as you hit your number. There is something continually broken with the product. With every single product. As a result, everyone is constantly scrambling around playing defense. None of the products are truly integrated, and Ascentis is always having to spin this to the disappointed client. This company spends more time having to issue a credit to a client or claw back money from the reps. The CEO is in way over his head. He knows it. True leadership is found in adversity. With the coronavirus and the tough market, he clearly doesn’t know what to do or how to respond. He has not adapted to change, and he seems stuck about 15 years in the past. Company values are hollow and don’t hold up. People who treat other people poorly are not reprimanded. They do not care about you or your success within the company at all. If you're struggling in your role, might as well start looking for a new job right away because if you don't leave, they'll fire you. No performance reviews Management in Sales is the worst I've ever encountered. Only cares about himself, not his team or other departments within the company. Absolutely zero "teamwork" within. Each department hates the other and will throw you under the bus without hesitation. The actual product itself is not what they sell to customers. As far as I see, the company is positioned strongly for continuous growth. The C-suite team led onboarding presentations and has continually demonstrated the importance of valuing and investing in it's employees. The author Jim Collins has been mentioned in a number of interviews, how they want their company to go from good to great, and how culture is at the forefront leading this initiative. They say every new hire gets to interview with the CEO among other executive leaders, and I did. I actually went through 8 interviews before getting an offer, which was more for the benefit of myself than for the company since I had the opportunity to see multiple business areas and meet multiple people to determine if it was a "good fit" for me in return. Additionally, as far as I can tell, I think this new role at Ascentis is giving me not only the training to do the job, but be great at my job. I have only been at the company a few months but I cannot speak highly enough of Ascentis. The Executives actually care about their employees and promote a culture of acceptance and empowerment. I am typically skeptical of organizations that claim to focus on culture, but Ascentis made me a believer 100%. Hard work is definitely expected, but are given all of the necessary tools to succeed.
