easy place to work
|
I loved my job and was sorry to move from area and seek other employment and missed the job I had at Ashtabula. I went through a divorce and moved from area back to Cleveland Ohio near family because I lived in Ashtabula for about 18 years and had planned to live and work longer than that. I miss the job I worked and enjoy.

busy good co-work relationships

Stressful
|
Work load for certain departments is a bit too much. Caregivers care about the patients overall. Housekeeper are phenomenal. They do not get the respect from the employees that they deserve.
|
Caregivers I work closely with are awesome. Gives motivation to come to work
|
Pay would be okay but 1/3 (literally) of my paycheck goes to insurance premiums.

hospital floors

Do yourself a favor. Look elsewhere.
|
There are some deep flaws embedded in the culture at this institute beginning with nursing management and climbing all the way up to the highest executives. Hospital administration has a habit of hiding in their suites seemingly plotting which staff members will end up next on the "naughty" list, prompting a walk off from the premises. It is well known among staff at this facility that when a better opportunity presents itself, individuals are subsequently black balled and in some cases even escorted off of the property prior to finishing out their remaining time with dignity. Countless personnel from secretaries, to nurses, ancillary staff, all the way up to physicians, have been given the "Old walk of shame" accompanied by security and HR.
There seems to be a perpetual "witch hunt" going on here, often starting with nurse managers observing us on the floors with a scrutinizing eye and then beginning the file that leads to building the case that ultimately becomes our final nail in the coffin.
There is a system wide lack of professional support, guidance and corrective action when needed for the employees in need. Things have seemingly spiraled and become even more cut throat with the acquisition of a new high ranking member to the administrative suite within the past year or so.
One could only infer from maneuvers such as the closing of the labor and delivery unit at a "Non-profit entity" serving an under served population with lack of alternative obstetrical services in the nearby region, in addition to closing of the in house skilled nursing unit, that financial "Profit" is the main factor driving corporate decision making here. In addition, there is a constant push to admit as many patients as possible stemming from administrative pressures, questioning the providers on their clinical decision making process. Unheard of elsewhere.
There was also a recent disruption of the computer networking system with widespread shutdown of the EMR. There are rumors floating about with seemingly nefarious intent behind the disruption. The truth is not truly known and has been covered up not surprisingly by administration chalking this up to an innocuous cause. An innocuous cause prompting a weeks long shut down of the EMR and a return to paper charting in 2020 while this issue is being sorted out, right.
In summary, a smaller community hospital serving an underprivileged region with limited resources in the immediate surrounding areas.
Many decent people with good intent of providing care to those in need. Unfortunately hindered by a hospital administration that seems preoccupied with fostering a culture of fear mongering and ruling with an iron fist.
Save yourself some peace of mind. Go somewhere where you can display your skills and provide exceptional care without the stress and constant worry that is served up daily at this level 1 drama center.

a lot of the people that work there have been there for 10+ years and have no problems speaking down to you. Poor training. Unable to keep a full staff.

Look elsewhere
|
No remote work options AT ALL even during Covid. Even though this job can be done remotely with no problem. Management has flat out said to look elsewhere if you want a remote job, and they don't want to do the work they would have to do to set you up to work from home. Pay is not good or competitive. They don't fight to keep you if you decide to move on. In fact, put in your 2 week notice in, and expect to be walked out the day you put in your notice, instead of letting you finish up your time. Coworkers talk horribly about each other all day long; lots of bullying. Management allows it to happen, no matter how much you say something about it. Disrespect and lack of trust from management. They're always ready to yell at you for talking, even when it's not even your group talking. But other areas in this department don't experience this. This company only cares about money. This is why they closed up the O.B. floor and making women travel over 50 miles to deliver their babies instead of safely there. DISGRACEFUL DECISION. First opportunity I get, and I'm out of here.

Management picks and chooses who can do what they want and who is under a tight leash. There is no support for our area and no consideration put in to certain requests. Hipaa violations occur with zero repercussions. A proper 2-week notice is placed and you’re treated like you got fired; walked out that day, told not to make a scene at the desk. You’re not allowed to tell anyone goodbye. The pay is minimal for the amount of work required to be done. I do not recommend working here. Other areas allowed to work remote and we are shot down time and time again. Management constantly demanding we don’t talk to each other. We whisper about work questions and still get in trouble, then get asked why are you whispering. If you do find a job to better yourself and your family, you’re treated so poorly. Management does not address the real issues with longtime employees due to fear of upsetting them. Constant personal calls, the chatting, cell phones going off; nothing is said to them. But in one area of the same room, If you go to the desk across from you to ask questions, right away the manager comes over and asks what’s going on here, there’s no social distancing. It’s a joke!! But others walk around with their mask under their nose. Management said if you’re not happy here, there’s the door! And when you do find a new job, it’s absolutely humiliating what they do and say to you to make it look like you’re the bad person. Not them. This is not a friendly culture. The constant back stabbing and chatter about each other is evident and heard and nothing is done about it. The focus is on the wrong work area to reprimand like children. And never laugh-you’ll get in trouble for that too! So come in, sit down, don’t speak, work all day, and leave. Please do not work here.

ACMC was unsupportive of continuing education. Management handles all situations in a passive aggressive manner, lots of whispering and favoritism. Co-workers were wonderful - management is terrible

Run the other way
|
I originally applied for a position but during my interview I was given the opportunity for something better. A dream job, if you will, but after starting the nightmare began. I had to teach myself every aspect and soon after had to teach someone else. On occasion management and doctor's would have arguments in the middle of the unit creating a very hostile environment.
