Really solid group of problem solvers
|
|
- more relaxed and methodical approach to developing our product
- devs are more than willing to help and always have a positive attitude when assisting
- product team is very available to help clarify expectations to devs
- still has a start up feel while being part of Home Depot
|
- sometimes communication can lapse between the different cross-functional roles (FE, BE, UX, QA, Product, etc)
- unclear as to what priorities for the department are at times

Customer Success
|
Toronto, ON
|
|
A frustrating place to work
|
|
- downtown office
- reduced work hours on Fridays
- frequent social events and gifts
- start with three weeks vacation + "Askuity Days" bonus vacation days
- benefits package and yearly fitness/mental wellness fund
- limited workload
- peers are nice and fun to work with
|
- poor integration with Home Depot teams. Home Depot business remains largely disconnected years after acquisition
- general "busy work" in customer success that doesn't directly contribute to business or deliver ROI for end users
- limited adoption of tool by suppliers and Home Depot teams despite several iterations
- no visibility into medium and long term business plans. lack of direction from management.
- limited career development and advancement opportunities
- limited diversity in role
- limited distinction between entry, senior and manager roles
- frequent turnover across all departments of the organization
- constructive criticism is negatively received and rarely acted upon by management

You won't learn anything at this job
|
|
Fitness reimbursement.
Training allowance.
Good for recent graduates or desperate in this recent economy.
|
Look at all the other reviews said in this company, and you will definitely see some common points that are being frequently raised, and if you think it will be different for your department, your role, then you are severely mistaken.
Bad nepotism - you will be working for managers that are not suitable due to lack of relevant experience and education.
No career growth at all.
Product is garbage.

Grandiose promises not aligning with the status quo
|
|
Salary is ok, we got a pay bump recently
|
There is lack of leadership and good business practices which is why the company is failing
Workloads are extremely high and impossible to meet the expectations. High stress and high demand every single day. Metrics make absolutely no sense and they don't measure what should be measured and are impossible to meet.
Very poor in their business strategies.
A top down leadership structure.
Command and demand style.
Workload is so high that they are just not managed correctly at all and many people take 'short cuts' to meet the impossible metrics but do poor quality work...and those are the ones promoted; not that there is much room for promotion due to a nepotism anyway.
The only next step would be a Manager and they never leave because their job is too cushy, and they are incompetent (none of them understand analytics at all).
Development Team – siloed and disconnected from the business. We’re running on assumptions only. The work atmosphere is friendly and welcoming but we’re seeing the rapid decline of culture and overall disconnect from the core business. No sense of transparent goal setting for the company at large - goals are not measurable, roadmaps are thrown out the window halfway through every year. Leaders change their mind on a dime and in turn, micromanage individual projects, instead of setting a vision and empowering employees to get the work done (relates to above).High turnover. My team saw a 50% turnover in a year. There has always been at least one person on stress leave/PTO on my team since I started because of the ridiculous demands and processes.
All this above results in a dysfunctional product that nobody likes to use, it bring almost zero value to end users.
Product Team is completely disconnected and disinterested in the development of the product. Some managers have questionable background aka no prior product management experience/education. All this makes the communication with them problematic & ineffective. Request/projects are coming randomly with no prior approved logic.
Client Success Team - salespeople playing “consultants", which support the app by soliciting calls/harassing vendors to improve usage numbers at all costs. Typical conveyer belt call center (they always hire Success Consultants rofl) . "Success Managers" are toxic, cult like “good vibes only” people that clearly don't know anything about data/merchandising. They present "success cases" that sound like typical no-substance sales stories either completely fabricated or heavily embellished to impress THD investors. It's perplexing since the usage numbers are LOW despite all the "success".
Toxic culture of embellishing/swiping under the rug.

Being such a large organization, there is very little chance that this type of message ever gets to the senior management.
Askuity sees THD as a corporate cash cow that will be milked for a very long time and THD needs to act immediately.
Home Depot Head Office should terminate every "legacy" manager/director and replace them with people who can actually work.

Do not for a second consider working here!
|
|
There really aren’t any pros to working here…
|
Management is a joke! They have absolutely no clue how to run a company and can be so toxic, you’re left pulling out your hair most of the time.
The product is (there’s no other way to say this) pathetic. What’s worse is management does not seem to understand how poor the product really is, or refuses to acknowledge how bad it is.
Management is so concerned with trying to look good that they misrepresent data and feedback from customers. Try passing relevant feedback and you’re immediately ostracized and targeted.
The turnover rate is so high and the management doesn’t seem to care. Speaks a lot about management’s priorities.
