The job is also always changing and it is fun to be part of such a new and growing company. It is difficult to get shifts sometimes. For the most part, if you are looking for a lot of hours, you won't get it. It was a great networking experience. I still keep in contact with many of the connections I made during my time with ASPIRE that have been a tremendous help in getting me on the right career path. When negotiating my salary, they verbally said they would be able to match my requirements. When I received my onboarding paperwork, the salary was $15,000 less than what we agreed on. Pretty much from that point forward it was lie after lie and broken promise after broken promise. It's truly a shame as I believed in the company and what it stood for. With it being a start up company, there was absolutely no work life balance. I would receive emails from my boss at 2am. When I would respond around 7-8am, I would get criticized for taking "too long to respond to an email"! We would have weekly meetings where many of the employees would be praised for their hard work and then the next week would be reprimanded for poor performance or worse-fired with no warning. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 998329 Open Treat your employees with more respect. As a start up company, you cannot afford to have too many enemies, but your behavior has created quite a lot. Cater to your employee's strengths. If someone is proven to be incredible in the field, then let them shine. If they are better at organization, utilize them in the office. They've been getting a number of high profile events and athletes to sponsor in the past year. - Young, energetic sales managers and team leaders who are fun to work with. - Pay. Working when you want for $10 an hour is hard to beat in high school. - ASPIRE is something that's easy to get behind because it's a healthy sports drink. You feel like you're part of something great when you work for ASPIRE. - One of the greatest sales and marketing experiences you can get in high school. - A huge con for me was that their DC and Baltimore joint office was in Columbia, MD (right outside of Baltimore off I-95). It was a two-hour round trip drive for me to get to Columbia and it became a disincentive to sign up for events. That's probably the reason I only stayed onboard for one summer. Otherwise, I'd likely still be doing it on the side. - Right now, definitely not something you can do as a career unless you work in the Minnesota office (headquarters).
