Worst job experience of my entire career.
|
|
Good base salary and commission structure.
Incredible and unique niche product.
|
The amount of lies, manipulation, lack of professionalism, and blatant harassment I experienced in my time at Assima was unreal.
My manager insisted on the archaic method of cold calling 80-100 people per day during a pandemic, with the objective of selling a minimum $50,000 product to enterprise size organizations. I would reach between 3 and 5 people per week, most obviously had no interest in being cold called.
A colleague in a senior sales position had found a great amount of success with a social media approach. People in Inside Sales Representative roles were highly discouraged by our manager against using social media even though it was only approach that was working.
Our manager was incompetent, unintelligent, and unpleasant to communicate with. Every conversation I had with him he threatened my job as a misguided attempt to encourage me. He clearly had no experience with management and blatantly lied to many of us in the same role as mine as well as to upper management.
He purposefully took advantage of our remote work environment to silo us off from each other and especially from upper management. He was speaking for us, and we were given no transparency from him, clearly as an attempt to save his job.
Once he realized that the ISRs were talking to each other and comparing notes on our individual horrible experiences with him he strategically fired every single person on the team claiming we were unsuccessful... We were following his instructions and calling 80-100 people per day, and not allowed to leave voicemails or send emails. His strategy was to blindside potential clients by catching them in an unexpected phone call. Of course we weren't finding success with this approach during a pandemic, especially with a product that is minimum $50,000. Him firing us for following his own strategy and not finding success with it is impossible to reconcile.
He should not be managing people, and should not be working in IT because of his complete resistance to innovation.
The social media approach wasn't his idea which is why I suspect that he was so against it, even though it was the only strategy producing real results. I guarantee that his incompetence and insecurity costed the company minimum hundreds of thousands of dollars.

An opportunity to learn a lot of different responsibilities across different roles

- An opportunity to learn various responsibilities across different roles, thus keeping the job exciting and interesting
- Traveling\working abroad on various e-learning projects for some well known clients
- Interesting technical issues to solve
|
- The salary is low in comparison to the industry standard, and it does not reflect well the number of responsibilities a Senior Product Consultant is expected to deal with
- No regular paid for training courses to learn the latest technologies and authoring tools within the e-learning industry

Was a good company before acquisition
|
|
Worked with many talented and inspirational people over the 20 years I was involved. Assima acquired DACG in 2005 and we became Assima. Made many friends and contacts who will always value.
|
Acquired by Partner One Capitol in Jan 2019 who immediately made most of the operational staff redundant.

Company wide Lay off by a pre-recording
|
|
Assima was recently purchased by PartnerOne equity investment firm. Pre lay off.
Great benefits, amazing co-workers, great culture, met salary expectations, bonuses. A great COO and leader of the US entity.
|
The entire company but 5 people (who’s role now is salvaging the few remaining clients we had) the rest were laid off by an automated voice message from the new owners HR department. There was no severance package or healthcare benefits extension. There were employees who had been at the company for over 15 years. They never gave anyone an opportunity to thank each other for our support and years of service. It was unreal.

No advice to management because they were also laid off. New owners please give your future employees a heads up and lay them off with a real voice and not a prank call.
