The back channel communications are where the real communication happens. Don't trust what gets said in meetings (even 1-on-1). What's said behind your back is what determines many outcomes. That's why meetings are often so silent. If you don't say anything, it can't be used against you. The work/life balance is good. Most folks leave by 5:00. This is not a learning culture. They have promoted people into management positions that have been there a certain number of years, but don't really have the skills to be good managers. Training was inconsistent and you're pretty much left to figure it out. The culture is good. I still learn new stuff after 2 years. It would be great if we were more collaborative. I can talk to the Dev Director any time I can find him when he isn't in a meeting. Flexible start and end time. Second of all management is ridiculous, and creates a hostile working environment. Floor Managers constantly speak inappropriately and curse. Your work is demeaned, and there's a email that goes to everyone in the company showing that you made a mistake.
