Strange Working Environment

I worked in the Box Office at The Palace Theatre and the Manchester Opera House. It was a bizarre and uncomfortable place to work. Cliquey staff who were very unwelcoming. Gossiped about each other all day. Two female staff having a secret relationship - that everyone knew about - created an awful atmosphere. Management totally useless and unhelpful.

Poor management, lack of good leadership, no cohesion within the company, wasted money, yet paid average salaries and expected lots of hard work from employees.
Relaxed culture, supposedly with a flexible working pattern, unfortunately it seemed that those perks were for the few privileged people, yet not for everyone.

Management do very little to back up or assist their workers when faced with angry/drunken/abusive customers. ‘The customer is always right’ is a dangerous motto to run a business by if you want a healthy team of staff.
