Worst Place to Work
|
|
Your colleagues who are genuine.
|
If I could give a zero rating I would. This is a honest review.
1) Salary is VERY VERY low for the work load you have to carry out. Absolutely no regards for NOC technicians. Their focus is on Cloud building and engineers. These members are separated from NOC technicians and office is way better than NOC technicians. NOC technicians are treated as the lowest of lowest. For a small company, you work there and you don't know the cloud engineers as you don't see or interact with them. If you are not apart of this team, good luck with a good pay.
2)Try to tell you they will train you on the job. Their definition of training, is how to use their help desk system.
3) Management has no clue what they are doing. The help desk system is a mess. Worst I have ever seen! If you are dealing with a high paying client, try not to make the slightest even email mistake. Your head is taken off. Their is no value placed on smaller clients.
4)Management will sell you a story of growth, to get you onboard. When you get onboard, there is absolutely no growth! Your job 90% of the time is answering phone calls to reset email passwords, or why my cloud account is suspended.
5)Company is so used to high turn over, if an employee doesn't show, they are like o well another on bites the dust. This has been a problem and they do not intended on adjusting it. There is so much turn over, they no longer have level 1, 2, or 3 technicians. Everyones is in the same as they are searching for employees to stay.
6)Your job is not NOC related, its level 1 IT support, with at times a mix of level 3 support. Your pay DOES NOT reflect the job duties.
7)I would not advise anyone to work here. It is a waste of your career.
8)Company so cheap, employees are the ones to take out the trash and to clean up any areas. They will not hire anyone to do a daily clean. I have never seen this in my years of working.
9)Tell you after training you will get 1.5% or 3% increase. When you do your review, they find everything in the book to 1) not raise your pay or 2)Of course give you the 1.5% if that much raise.
10) They will at times require you to work a 12 hours shift by yourself. You are unable to get up from your seat to even take a break as no one is there to take over.

Your company will never grow to the extent you wish if your employees are unhappy. I know you have heard this for years, but still fail to adjust the necessary changes. Employees aren't looking for things that are grand but things that will motivate them to come to work.
You have a lot of employees looking to grow and be a part of the company but the failure to provide such an environment means you will constantly have a high turn over rate.
How does one live or survive on a $14/hr budget?

Honest review of a tech company from the employee level
|
|
Health Benefits 401k upward mobility great environment to learn computers.
|
Toxic environment, foul language, cliquey groups. If you have disability they might let you go. The day they found out that I took medicine for mental health they "coincidentally" let me go the next day. They don't give you much of a chance to adjust to the schedule. I worked rotating 12 hour shift from midnight and apparently they wont tolerate dosing of off even though I had been on that shift only three weeks.

Solid First Experience
|
|
- Easygoing work environment.
- Wide array of subjects to tackle.
- Resources available for personal use and growth.
|
- Training issues -- a sort of sink or swim mentality.
- Some communication issues between technicians/engineers/management.
- Not much upward mobility.

Fantastic stepping stone into server admin
|
|
The management (one individual in particular) is incredibly fantastic and will go above and beyond to help the employees in any way they can. If you are looking for a start in server administration, have little to no experience, and have a drive to learn, this is the place to start. They will train you on what you need to know (although the onboarding process is a bit rocky) and give you the resume experience. You can work here for 6 months to a year and then leave for another company making significantly more money.
There are actually other IT companies in the Orlando area that actively seek and snipe Atlantic.net employees. If you have their name on your resume, you'll be in good with other hiring companies.
Management is wonderful, I really cannot stress that enough. All the teams above you (cloud engineers, tier 3, network engineers, etc) are wonderful people and more than happy to help with confusing situations. If you show a genuine desire to learn, rather than just pushing your work on someone else, any one of them will help in any way they can.
|
Incredibly non-competitive wages plus no raises (not even cost of living) means that you will never make another cent more than you're making when you're hired. Hint: it's the same salary they've been offering for the last 6+ years.
The owner of the company absolutely does not care whatsoever about his employees and their loyalty. He has point blank told employees to their face that they are replaceable and if they want more money, he won't hesitate to find someone else who will accept the wages. There's a member of staff who has been a loyal employee for 5 years and the owner does not know his name. In a company with under 30 employees, this is laughable at best.
The company is constantly understaffed (due to the aforementioned ability to train and then leave for more money elsewhere) so the schedules can get hectic when employees quit. You have to be grossly incompetent to be fired there, which means if you're not one of those people, you have to deal with them.

Pay your employees what they're actually worth. Give raises. Fire the useless incompetent people. Give Marty a reality check. His company is going under because the employees who have built his company up and made it what it is, are all fed up with the lack of respect he gives.
Also tell Marty to stop posting non company related rant posts to the company blog. It's incredibly unprofessional and makes everyone look bad.

Not fair
|
|
Great place to learn Linux. Not a lot of pressure to get to the top.(Which is also a con because if you want to get to the top there is not much reward once you have advanced and no pressure for those you have surpassed to try and catch up)
|
Never rewarded for finding bugs in systems that could have lost the company hundreds if not thousands of dollars in revenue every month. The company rewards those who work 8-5, by means of letting them skip lunch and go home early, not expecting them to continue learning because "they are so busy", and allowing them to dump work on the next shift even if they are capable of completing it.
