Former management, policies, development staff, and culture. Now, situational WFH and unqualified hiring into development positions.

After working at Attainia for multiple years in a positive environment, an internal falling out led to solid management which respected employees being replaced with an incompetent CTO who cuts employees down (May/June '20). Jerry (CTO) talks down to employees, has no awareness of the actual team issues, goes back on his word (lies to twist the original statements), and promotes a culture of zero transparency. Under his guiding hand, there has been a mass exodus of the competent developers (8+ presently), with more leaving every few weeks. Intern-level candidates are hired to standard and senior developer positions, given preferential treatment as friends of management. The developers are functionally run by CS and blamed for release delays resulting from features CS forgot to include, posed as the devs failing to add or being responsible for 'bugs' when CS requests one functionality when they ultimately change their mind halfway in and want a different outcome without communicating it. The new HR regime holds employees to unpublished draft policies, helps perpetuate salary discrepancies while fighting bonus/PTO payouts, and holds the same lacking expertise in their field as the new CTO does. Once a great place of employment, now the scuttled hull of a sinking ship.

Inconsistent policies, no integrity, disparaging remarks to historical employees, "open" vacation policy (with numerous blackout dates), managers managing upward, managers talking down to (even yelling at) employees, zero transparency, false culture, employees must drink from the koolaid (or else), managers taking employees ideas for their own, treating customers poorly behind their backs, promised bonuses always a struggle to collect, salary discrepancies for similar positions, promoting friends instead of seasoned colleagues...and so many more.

I have worked at Attainia for almost two years now and in that amount have time have been moved from business development to sales. Management saw the potential in me and took a chance to move me to a sales position when there was an opening for one, even though I did not have sales experience at that time. Now they are working with me to make sure I am as successful as I can be by mentoring me and helping me be creative in ways to close deals. I was in the unique position of being the first person hired to start in each of the new roles I was in, so I got to help create the role, team, and process which was a totally new experience for me and helped me learn a lot.

Because of having started in a completely new role, there wasn't a guideline for what would work and what wouldn't, any of the success I experienced was from just trying new things constantly. While that method did help me learn a lot, it also was stressful to have expectations of success when there was no tried and true method existing for that success at that time.

When starting a new role or position, it would be helpful to make sure there is a leader in place of that team or person that can truly help them be successful because they have themselves have been in previous work experience. If a team is under leadership that has tried and true methods of success to teach, it will be more reasonable to place expectations on them, rather than placing expectations on a team or role that is "throwing things on the wall to see what sticks." I believe that this problem is being solved currently by the hiring efforts underway and by the hands-on approach upper management is taking to ensure success for new roles.
