Secure academic jobs are so scarce lately, but one should think carefully if offered a job here— unless you are so sure to fit in the general culture of that region. Also, it is hard to find decent jobs outside of the university, when not connected to right people.

Auburn offers a wonderful benefits package with generous paid time off. I have enjoyed the flexibility of the position. My co-workers are great for the most part. The hardest part of the job is meeting the expectations from higher up's in the organization.

Great place to work if you can get a position. Covered all of the out of state tuition.
Other GTAs were great. You had an office that was a great place to study while on campus.

Lots of Room for Growth

I overall really enjoyed working at the Rec while I was there. I worked three different jobs and was able to advance in two out of three. I credit The Rec for helping me gain leadership knowledge and experience that has made a significant impact in my life.

Positive work environment, good benefits

A great place to work, especially if you have college age children(1/2 price tuition). I don’t like being in a non-exempt employee as you are required to punch in/out while exempt employees around you come and go as they please.

Not bad for a grad school job but the pay is not good and impossible to live off so loan are a must. getting paid is nice though and depending on the professor you work with you wont get to over loaded.

Very good until COVID hit
|
Great job until it was shut down due to COVID-19. Also new management for the student center caused a lot of great people to quit or early retire. This was a great building to work in before that.

Productive and flexible with all students
|
Working at Auburn University is one of the greatest jobs a students can have. They respect the need to schedule around classes and will often work around them. There is always an amazing sense of community and care for each other and this made work something to look forward to. Being on campus was also a huge benefit as I can easily walk to and from classes. The pay was extremely good for the amount of work and I did not feel like I was worked to the bone.
