private:auctionedge https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1061151 Sep 1st, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Auction Edge [REDACTED] United States USA Okay Company to Work For The company knows how to compensate their employees fairly, and for the most part is a place where you can have an open and honest dialog with management (there are a few exceptions, however). I haven't worked for anyone that supports employee career growth as strongly. The medical benefits are expensive for what they cover, and don't even think about adding a dependent on the provided medical. The cost for dependents is so high that you can find better coverage for cheaper on government marketplaces. Many times they say that they care about employees, and for the first year I was there that felt true. However, toward the end of my time with Auction Edge it began to feel much more like lip service; their words seemed to be at odds with their actions much of the time. 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 4.0 4.0 3.0 4.0 5.0 2.0 1061151 Open Be honest with yourself and those who work under you about the culture that you want to create, and how that may be shifting expectations across the organization. And for the sake of everyone that still works there, get better medical! 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 0.0 Jan 8th, 2021 08:34AM Jan 8th, 2021 08:34AM Auction Edge Automobiles & Parts
private:auctionedge https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1061151 Apr 21st, 2020 12:00AM Open Open Auction Edge Senior Software Engineer Spokane, WA Working at AuctionEdge made me a worse software developer - There are many opportunities to learn new technologies at Auction Edge. If you're not learning something, then you're not trying. - Good foot in the door for someone with little experience. - Flexible work hours. - Fair pay. - It can't really get much worse, the only way to go is up! Tremendous amount of opportunity for improvement. - My team was rather sensitive. I feel that AuctionEdge went above and beyond to accommodate us. - AuctionEdge operates in the Independent Auto Auction space (think used car auctions). They truly have embraced their industry. So much so, that they treat software like a used car lot would treat a car; the goal is to turn the car over for profit as quick as possible, rinse, and repeat. - There is not enough experience creating high quality software products outside of this industry (much of the experience is from building products for the industry, which suffer from the same issues I've encountered while working here. Just one big ol` pile of mud.). As a software company, they value industry experience above all, and where much of the management problems can be derived from. (this industry is fast and loose, so is the software lifecycle). - They don't understand Agile, Software Development, or Project Management. They've taken all lessons learned from the past 40 years of Software Development and thrown it out the window. In my future interviews, AuctionEdge will be my example of how not to build software. - YAGNI, KISS, DRY do not apply here. - I was told that my "standards are too high" in my review. I have never, ever, been told to lower the bar in my career; well now I have. - Anyone up the org chart is able to commit to the repository. This has contributed to multiple implementations of a single feature in the same repository. Quickly on its way to becoming a Ball of Mud. - They don't know their data or customers as well as they think. This has contributed to not being able to get concrete specifications or requirements for most features. In fact, we would build anything, just so it could in the demo in order to get feedback. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 2.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 1061151 Open - I've worked across a number of industries, and the one constant is that they all build software -- the industry itself is just a variable. I personally feel that AuctionEdge has alot of potential, but from what I've seen it's been poorly executed, and poorly managed. Strong technical leadership and experience in building high quality software outside of the auto re-marketing industry is critical, because right now you don't have it. The lessons learned from building a ball of mud, contribute to building an even bigger ball of mud. - Self managing teams only work when all members of the team have the experience, and are accountable to each other; otherwise it's just a buzz word. The fact that anyone up the org chart can check in code, manage repositories, etc, breaks the model of a self managing team; they're not accountable to anyone. I have never in my career seen a team operate this way. This will now be a huge red flag to me, and will be a deal breaker in any future employment of mine; I suppose for that I should thank you. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 2.0 Jan 8th, 2021 08:34AM Jan 8th, 2021 08:34AM Auction Edge Automobiles & Parts

private:auctionedge https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1061151 Aug 12th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Auction Edge United States USA Keep expectations low Small corporate feel and most of the co-workers are wonderful. Love auction industry & our customers. I enjoy being part of a software industry that's growing leaps and bounds on a daily basis. Under valued by Supervisor, Manager & Senior Management Team. Over worked and under paid. If you are not a "yes" man or politically correct, you will find yourself sitting in the same seat for a long time. No matter how hard you work. It is clear who is highly favored & who isn't within the company. Company has double-standards which causes employees less opportunity for job growth. We are small company growing faster then anyone can keep up. There's to many coals in the fire and not enough man power. The dedicated hard working people get overlooked as long as the task is done. 1.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 4.0 1.0 1061151 Open Auction Edge is growing faster than any of us can keep up. I love working at Auction Edge. Growing company that is exciting with lots of challenges. The employees are what really makes the company shine. I've worked at many companies to know a great culture when I find one. Collaborative, supportive, transparent, respect for each other. Everyone has a voice and has value to add. Love it! Growth can be a challenge. Especially when trying to keep a great company great. It takes a village and all employees chip in to support each other.
