This was a rewarding experience but i would recommend to do research outside of hours to better prepare for possible situations and ways to handle individuals based on their placement in the spectrum

great place to work
|
An average day at work is an hour doing preassigned daily tasks to be done every work day, then I ask for any one off or special tasks and complete those through out the rest of the day. The location is easily accessable by bus, the workplace culutre is tight knit and friendly. The hardest part of the job would be taking the trash down to the compacter as the bin is large and difficult to manuver into the elevator. The most enjoyable part of the job, for me, is meeting new people and knowing that your work had a fairly good impact on their first impression.

Overall it was a good place to work watching the individuals achieved their goals each day. The work environment was good. Management sucks, they make themselves look good on paper whereas the support staff did all the work. Management was not proactive in hearing the ideas of staff that worked with the individuals on a daily basis.

It's a fun and rewarding job. You get to help make a difference in people's lives. It's very flexible as far as hours and how you schedule your tasks in your shift. The pay isn't great and there aren't many advancement opportunities, but overall a great place to work.

I enjoyed the clients, but the work environment could stand to be more diverse. I enjoyed working with autistic individuals but felt unsafe at times being that the clients were mostly large males that could get aggressive.

It was great working there. Very different than then my normal working history. The management was great and very understanding when it came to school and being off. They provided very good training and welcoming to all who would like experience working with people who have autism.
