And when it was, communication was terrible. -things were abysmally organized between departments which would couse serious tension and stress. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 1.0 APPROVE 2.0 4.0 4.0 5.0 3.0 2.0 2.0 604342 Open Please please please, pay your artist what they are worth especially if you want them out in New York. Communication with contractors was absolutely terrible and led to some misunderstandings that easily could have been avoided and weren't necessary. Improve that communication between contractors and management to make it easy for everyone. 0.0 [] No No 0.0 Jan 8th, 2021 05:24PM Jan 8th, 2021 05:24PM Avalanche Studios Consumer Goods Leisure Goods

private:avalanchestudios https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=604342 Jan 13th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open Avalanche Studios Stockholm, Stockholm One of the best game development studios in Stockholm * Very talented and smart people, one can learn a lot from working here * Good work gets noticed and promoted * Excellent work-life balance - No or very little crunch, plenty of holidays * Benefits: generous pension scheme, massage at work, sport activities, health allowance. * Avalanche spirit is absolutely the best, you feel at home here * Salaries are a bit low, especially for people who joined the company long time ago, this is the main reason why we've been losing so many excellent people to other Stockholm companies, in particular to Ubisoft. Stockholm game industry is very competitive when it comes to talent and recruiting. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 6.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 4.0 604342 Open 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 6.0 Jan 8th, 2021 05:24PM Jan 8th, 2021 05:24PM Avalanche Studios Consumer Goods Leisure Goods

private:avalanchestudios https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=604342 Mar 19th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Avalanche Studios United States USA Great place, capable of big things with small company resources. Avalanche has truly some of the most gifted people in the industry. They're all very smart, creative, passionate and capable of creating greatness with a small team. Working with such great people is exhilarating and fulfilling. The company is also small enough to have a family feel, but large enough to have access to satisfactory resources such that one never feels deprived of equipment, software, etc. A lot of the senior staff haven't worked anywhere else, and don't know how things are done elsewhere. As a result, there can be a resistance to change and new ideas, which can be very frustrating. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 8.0 5.0 5.0 3.0 5.0 3.0 4.0 604342 Open Beware of the cultural issues limiting change and new ideas. They will be very harmful in the long run, in terms of technology and possibly attrition. 0.0 [{"countHelpful": 0, "languageId": "eng", "userJobTitle": "Head of Communications", "__typename": "EmployerResponse", "originalLanguageId": null, "id": 1716224, "responseDateTime": "2018-06-26T06:25:33.997", "translationMethod": null, "response": "Thanks for sharing! The balance between familiarity and professionalism is certainly something we aspire to achieve and keep over time. We sometimes, half-jokingly, call ourselves \"the biggest garage developer in the world\", by which we refer to just that mix. Ideally, our garage roots and sustainable growth over time will leave just this impression with Avalanchers.\r\n\r\nThanks also for your feedback. private:avalanchestudios https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=604342 Mar 1st, 2018 12:00AM Open Open Avalanche Studios Stockholm, ME Professional, caring and progressive There is an impressive ambition to improve at Avalanche. They communicate nicely from many different areas of the company, to keep the employees up to date of what is going on. There is a nice collaboration between the different projects, so there is many people to learn from and get support. It seems like management are interrested in feedback and wants to invest in their personal and in their development. I would like to see a bit better equipment, like bigger computer screens and more luxury computerchairs. I would also like to have the opportunity to work more overtime and get payed for it, if I felt like it. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 2.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 604342 Open Keep up the good work! 0.0 [{"countHelpful": 0, "languageId": "eng", "userJobTitle": "Head of Communications", "__typename": "EmployerResponse", "originalLanguageId": null, "id": 1716209, "responseDateTime": "2018-06-26T06:10:23.287", "translationMethod": null, "response": "Thank you so much! If the apparent lack of \"more luxury chairs\" is our biggest stumbling block, then we're in decent shape. Joking aside, it's so good to hear that you've felt our efforts to constantly improve, and we appreciate that you're taking the time to share.\r\n\r\nYour feedback regarding overtime is well noted. This is an area where we're trying to strike a fine balance and certainly limit overtime, given how crucial a healthy work/life balance is to us. But going back to your earlier point, we're also not perfect and always up for evaluating and improving.\r\n\r\nThanks again!", "responseOriginal": null, "countNotHelpful": 0}] REGULAR No Yes 0.0 Jan 8th, 2021 05:24PM Jan 8th, 2021 05:24PM Avalanche Studios Consumer Goods Leisure Goods

The work/life balance is really good as well. Tightly run ship which is a good thing but sometimes you'll have you sacrifice quality and creativity to be able to ship on time. private:avalanchestudios https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=604342 May 8th, 2017 12:00AM Open Open Avalanche Studios Programmer New York, NY Stands out in a difficult industry Avalanche takes work-life balance seriously. We had far fewer overtime hours than previous companies I've been at. The 2 week vacation in the summer is an amazing perk. You can actually have a life separate from game development and not feel guilty about it. People at Avalanche are impressive in terms of the skill and expertise they have in developing games. You can talk with anyone and they will know their stuff. People are generally cooperative and willing to help out others. The problems that need solving are usually interesting and challenging. Especially if you aren't from a AAA background. People have strong but well reasoned opinions about how things should be done. If you're interested in working in games in NYC, Avalanche is currently the only opportunity for you to work on large console titles. The tools and build systems at Avalanche can be unstable and require frequent fixing to keep people productive. Priorities on a day-to-day basis are not always clear. Features will sneak up as being important for delivery instead of planned well in advance. Projects suffer from lack of clear communication among high-level stakeholders which causes unnecessary amounts of rework. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 APPROVE 4.0 4.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 3.0 3.0 604342 Open Avalanche has assembled an impressive pool of talent but the team is held back by problems in its tools and processes.
