Interesting Work Culture
|
An interesting workplace culture. Benefits and HR strive to make this place a comforting environment, though there is little room for growth as well as a very micromanaging side of management. It is a great job to jump in on cold calling for you will be required to be making 55+ cold calls a day and working with attorneys makes the job perfect for honing in skills on objection handling.
Overall it is a great starting sales position though it does become mentally taxing.

Good entry level job, but don't stay long
|
I've seen Avvo go through every change you can imagine. Good for an entry level job, but do not stay too long. The sales style is going to ruin you if you want to advance your career within sales. There is little to 0 room for growth within the company. Base bay is very, very low compared to other jobs in Seattle. Industry is getting very oversaturated as we've called/contacted attorneys/law firms far too many times in years previous and tons of attorneys got sold horrible packages just for a rep to get a sale, leading to a bridge being almost burnt down with that attorney/law firm.
I loved coming into work my first year, since then, not so much. Pay is low, not much transparency (when that is a core competency), and unless this is your first sales job, you most likely will regret accepting an offer. In my opinion, Avvo in Seattle will be no more in 2 years. I would not recommend to my network.

I would suggest passing Avvo by unless fresh out of college
|
The work place lacks transparency, and the RSMs do not reflect a high level of management skills or people skills. The management collectively comes off very condescending and demeaning. The pay here for the time they require from you is considerably lower than average for Seattle.
The commission structure is fantastic however due to Avvo’s lack of monopoly and innovation most of our client base is fried and it takes more effort to get a good return on revenue than what it’s worth.
The AE role here is NOT for anyone who has more than 3 years of sales experience or is over the age of 26/27 you will most likely feel unchallenged, underpaid and like you are going backwards in your sales career. I do however recommend it to anyone who is right out of college and looking to lay a basic foundation into a relaxed corporate setting and cold call sales.

Don’t worry; they hire just about everyone who applies. Turnover is very high.
This company is all about them and not about you.
They really aren’t serious about anything that pertains to successful growth and customer retention.
The Account Executive position is newspaper ad sales calls.
Don’t get too excited about using your experience, skills and qualifications; you won’t need them (Period)

Times are changing
|
Avvo used to have very good work/life balance. Flexible hours/make your own schedule and a lot of free snacks/team and company events, but they were bought out and all the perks are gone or changed to barely even be considered perks. The people there are great and that was the reason I managed to stay so long, but with no opportunities to grow or really advance your career it was hard to see myself there any longer.

Garbage place to work

They let me know for no reason. I broke two records within the company during training and was top of my tier for the time I was there. Management is garbage, the only thing that matters to the company is if you fit in the culture. Doesn’t matter if you’re a top producer or the hardest worker. You want to keep your job at Avvo just suck off management and you can be there for years as a low level producer

Poor culture and leadership

Avvo was a great place to work in 2013-2014. It all changed when they brought in new leadership in 2016. The sales organization was led by new management with zero sales experience. The company culture quickly declined and people were no longer excited about Avvo. They scaled back on their products and there was no growth in this company. I’ll be very surprised if Avvo lasts another year.
