I left after 3rd armed robbery. That's a chance you take when working at a bank. The manager I had for years wasn't the most friendly, felt like walking on eggs shells. That person ended up retiring and the new manager was better. Definitely not always within audit and compliance as Canadian banks, rules change, which is not part of my beliefs. It was shocking that the leadership was so poor. The lack of motivation to evolve as an employee was amazing. They want order takers, not creative thinkers or problem solvers. The company itself had pretty good products for the customer, but the work environment was awful. Patronage hiring and cult atmosphere are the norm. I have put more energy than any of their former employees but get never appreciated. There are few nice people but higher percentage is full of non-professional, ill natured, disrespectful, ignorant, rude, aggressive and envious staff. They have no respect in terms of race,colour and religion. I have found this place is very poisonous with toxic work environment. Some of the staff is friendly and have professional work ethics which include how to dress properly during business working hours but most of them don't and they are rude, aggressive, dress unprofessionally, jealous, mean and they will talk behind your back to kick you out if they don't like you and have very poor coordination & terrible communications. The company have lots of events but actually there is no place for employee appreciation. The only way get promoted is having good connection at the management level. Management has little or no knowledge about the work environment at the lower level. Senior staff doesn't know how to operate the systems. They are dependent on lower level staff how to operate some transactions. I wish I have some good things to talk about this place but I don’t. A decent training and some credit union courses. But will it help somebody to grow there? private:bayviewnb https://www.indeed.com/cmp/bayview-credit-union/reviews Apr 12th, 2018 12:00AM Open Open BAYVIEW CREDIT UNION Administration Saint John, NB CAN Terrible management, low morale workplace Regrettably, I worked at Bayview for many years in Administration (Head Office) and found that the management team was very distant, but was quick to come around to lay blame or find fault, never any commendation. This kept staff morale very low and on edge all the time. No clear goals were ever given, at least in my department. Salary is mediocre, not the worst around but certainly not the best. I think things are better for staff that work in the branches (tellers and loans officers), as the branch managers all seemed to try and make a fun/positive environment for staff. I hear now they are planning a lot of layoffs soon, if so I'm sure staff are just as depressed as ever. Very fantastic first job experience, loved working there and meeting new people! Fantastic workers, and co-employees! In a day at work in BayviewCU I would get to work, and I would escort everyone to their designated floors and drop them off! It was a very excellent job for meeting new people and interacting! Good company to work for with great benefits. Great team members made it like a family. What makes it unique is the small community and how we built personal relationships with our members. Very good if you need time off for appointments etc... However can be a bit stressful as they are very focused on your goals as they need to compete with other FI's. If you aren't making your targets could be hard for you to get other positions within the company. Benefits are great, management is very approachable & very fair. Lots of incentives. The Credit Union is very keen on updating your knowledge and education. Involved in the community and very supportive. Each day is different, always learning something new from members, to courses. Team player environment. Fun and always a happy place to be! Hardest part.. that is a hard. Every day there was a a great day, fun, and involved and you felt like you were a huge part to the Credit Union and always an asset. Dealing with unsatisfied members would be a hard day for you because you strive to ensure members are always happy.
