A revolving door of disappointments

None. Paychecks came on time but they couldn't maintain payroll because they couldn't manage the business, so they had to stagger multiple lay-offs. Most people were good and fun but overwhelmed and under appreciated.
|
CEO Carolyn Betts seems to lack empathy, leadership or the ability to focus. Happy and energetic in public but secretly plotting every minute is how I would describe her. This is amplified by a toxic culture that is driven by fear of losing your job. Every week there is another fear tactic being imposed to the sales team.
No executive has stayed longer than a year. Plans are made, we get excited about the direction then the CEO shifts attention onto something new and shiny. I can understand the frustration and we saw it on the floor. Some of them came from great backgrounds I think and they were run out or ran away from the company not too long after starting.
My manager or any of them don't get any real training and held to quotas that have no basis in reality. They have spreadsheets for everything but no real plan. The business model and "leadership" is wrong and they don't seem to want to fix it. Surrounding yourself around people that kiss up to you as survival isn't leadership.
There was a head of HR that was supposed to "change the culture of Betts" and she left after just a couple months because of how toxic the culture was. I can only imagine that the companies issues with diversity was a key point in her leaving.
They had more than one head of sales that got grinded and spit out over the course of just a year.
They spent a week early this year writing a mission and values that was all a joke. Covid broke the business financially and emotionally and everyone had their pay cut or was fired to save the business -that should have been my first red flag- in a few months even more people were fired when they didn't manage the finances correctly. That just continued through the year.
There are so many other recruiting companies out there. Stay away from this one, its a revolving door of disappointment.

Sell the business or find a leader who can focus on creating a healthy business. Moving the head office from SF to Austin and seeing that Austin team scatter to the corners of the US should have been a clue that people don't want to be too close.

My onboarding and offboarding experience were thorough and clean. I received my ready-to-go equipment and all of the necessary documents in a timeline manner. The team made it a point to ensure that I felt welcomed and extremely grateful for my contributions. The culture itself is top-notch. The team is genuinely passionate about people and make it a point to celebrate each others' wins and support during moments of challenges. Leadership is solid, transparent, has a clear direction for the company. Overall my time at Betts was special; highly recommend.

Like any organization during COVID, maintaining a cohesive culture during remote life requires extra work. Continue making the efforts so that teams are growing together during this time of separation.

-was introduced to a new network of software companies
-made some long lasting connections with a handful of coworkers
-free alcohol to make the day go shorter

Where do I even begin....
-horrible management that has next to no training. They like to use fear and intimidation tactics to make you "succeed". Managers could behave any way they wanted with no repercussions (multiple complaints were made, no changes happened).
-spent 10+ hours a day working. I often worked from 7:30 AM to 7 PM as a recruiting coordinator, and even longer hours as a new recruiter. This was not unusual, I was often accompanied by other employees trying to reach impossible goals.
-HR was a joke, the only good upper management HR gal left in a short amount of time after seeing how toxic the culture was.
-I don't even need to include this as it's been written 100 times over, but CEO is a raging partier that has no boundaries.
-Terrible pay for the bay area, served pay cuts after a promotion with little explanation.
-the lack of diversity was laughable, and they often targeted people of color to hire, only for them to leave on their own or get fired within the quarter.
