A great place to grow and learn PR

Bhava Communications has made a strong name for itself as a B2B tech PR company with a strong emphasis on teaching and writing. Anyone working here needs to be able to write well and understand the needs of the clients.
One of the better Pros of Bhava is that they are open to non-traditional hires and are happy to provide training to those who are transitioning to PR from another field. During my time at Bhava (over four years), I've successfully mentored and guided professionals from diverse backgrounds and helped them learn how to be PR professionals.
Bhava also stands by its teaching credo - helping young PR folks understand the realities and intricacies of working in this business. If you're starting out, Bhava is a good place to learn from senior executives and be a more competent business communicator without going through the meatgrinder of larger agencies.
If you're looking to join a strong, competent team that does not do timesheets, does not stay late in the office for weeks on end, and offers a variety of other perks (good 401k, gym onsite and snacks), this is a great place. The location is also great if you live in the East Bay and don't want to deal with the craziness of commuting to SF every day.

It's sometimes tricky to balance client demands with the responsibilities of creating and setting personal goals.
Also, since the hiring standard is usually high, the process of employee onboarding can take a long time.

You won’t find billable hours at Bhava, giving us the ability to apply time to things that matter most -- like making time for clients, and allowing teammates to take the time needed to learn about an account and technology, instead of worrying about billing each minute. Bhava is teaching agency and offers a professional development and mentorship program with lots of opportunities for upward growth. The company also provides formalized trainings throughout the year for continued education in PR.

Ethics, people, lack of industry knowledge. SOMETHING has to be changed. If they won't listen to me in person, if HR is too incompetent to do anything, if managers want to continue turning a blind eye, hopefully this scream for help will be heard. Enough is enough with everyone throwing everyone else under the bus. Enough is enough with senior management's uncaring laziness. Enough is enough with creating one of the most toxic work environments I have and hopefully will ever experience. I hope this gets someones attention and make some changes because I cannot go on like this on a daily basis.

This is advice for Liz - open your eyes. All employees should get candidly reviewed, including VPs by the entire staff and not just the other way around. That's where you will find the most issues. I promise.

- Executive staff notice hard work and show their appreciation.
- There is several opportunities to work closely with the CEO on projects and accounts.
- Bhava is not your typical PR agency model where VPs only oversee strategy and put their stamp of approval on work. Our VPs are all in on all aspects of the accounts.
- The office has many perks including a full kitchen packed with snacks and groceries, a gym (especially great for those with long commutes), a mezzanine with couches and quiet areas, several conference rooms.
- Deep expertise in enterprise and B2B tech = great quality of work for clients. We take pride in our writing, content development and creativity when it comes to the space.
- We frequently do happy hours and outings
- The company has a company-wide annual kickoff in January which is a great way to bond with the team and motivate the team for the year to come. This is not common in other PR agencies.
